Job summary

Bal Raksha Bharat in Delhi seeks an Assistant – Programme Implementation (Academic Support Fellow) to strengthen quality ECCE through mentoring Anganwadi Workers and capacity-building activities. Qualifications

Level 1: The role holder will not have contact with children and/or young people, or access to personal data about children or young people as part of their work; therefore, a police check will not be mandatory unless the content or location of the role changes, in which case the Child Safeguarding level will be reviewed.

Level 2: Either the role holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or they will be working in a ‘regulated’ position (Finance, Monitoring & Evaluation, Legal etc.); therefore, a police check will be required.

Level 3: The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in programs; or are visiting programs; therefore a police check will be required.

ROLE PURPOSE

To strengthen the quality of early childhood care and education for children aged 0–6 years by providing academic support, mentoring, and capacity building to Anganwadi Workers. The Academic Support Fellow will support the effective use of play-based learning, age-appropriate materials, responsive caregiving, and early literacy and numeracy practices, while engaging caregivers to promote positive parenting and home-based learning, in alignment with NEP 2020.

SCOPE OF ROLE

Scope:

  • S/he would be a focal person for implementation of all the activities at Anganwadi (AW) level
  • S/he would Identify children who are dropout or never enrol in the intervention area and enrol them in AWCs.
  • S/he would facilitate small and large academic activities in Anganwadi and community level
  • S/he would maintain regular contact with children, AWW, Supervisors and ADC members and caregivers
  • S/he would work with 0-6 years’ children for Child centric learning
  • S/he will monitor BLES work and other minor repair and maintenance activities at the Anganwadi Centres.
  • S/he would closely work with Anganwadi Workers of the assigned Anganwadi Centres for regular follow-up of project activities.
  • S/he would have regular contacts with Anganwadi level monitoring committee caregiver groups and facilitate their meetings at Anganwadi level.
  • S/he would document daily diary, monthly reports, periodic progress, case studies of best practices etc. of her/his assigned area and share with the Project Lead.
  • S/he would timely collect and submit of all MIS related information and data to Project Lead.
  • S/he would make regular visits to AWCs to provide academic support to AWWs and Children.
  • S/he would Liaison with the relevant stakeholders.
  • S/he would Identify the challenges faced by the intervention anganwadi center and community and design a robust and sustainable solution to improve the learning level of children.
  • S/he would Regularly communicate and work with local leaders, community influencers and duty bearers to build awareness and understanding among them with respect to the Project Lead.
  • S/he would undertake appropriate additional responsibilities/tasks as assigned by the project Lead.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate in social work or in any discipline from a recognized university or college is essential. Weightage will be given to candidates with experiences related to ECCE.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Candidate having at least 2-3 years’ experience of working with NGO/School/AWCs/Community/Govt. at the grass root level or have B.Ed., BTC, DIET, NTT, or other relevant early childhood education and teacher training certifications can apply for the post.
