Summary

The role of an Assistant Professor is to engage in teaching, research, and other academic activities to contribute to the university's academic excellence and knowledge dissemination. They are responsible for nurturing students' learning, conducting research in their field of expertise, and actively participating in university service and development activities.

Responsibilities

Teaching and Curriculum Development

• Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students.
• Design and develop course curricula that align with the NEP framework, UGC guidelines, and the objectives of the department and university.
• Employ innovative pedagogical methods to engage students actively in the learning process.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to students, encouraging their academic and professional growth.

Research and Scholarly Activities

Qualifications Required

• A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, such as SET, or have been awarded a Ph. D. degree by the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time, as the case may be, for exemption from NET/SET.
• NET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SET is not conducted. However, a Ph.D. degree shall remain the minimum eligibility for appointment of Assistant Professor in such disciplines.
