Job summary

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline from a reputed institution.
  • Master's degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or related specialization.
  • Strong academic and research background in spacecraft dynamics, guidance, navigation, stability and control will be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Spacecraft Control Theory, Guidance and Navigation, and Stability and Control.
  • Develop course materials, lectures, laboratory exercises, assignments, and assessments.
  • Conduct theoretical and computational studies of spacecraft dynamics, attitude motion and control systems.
  • Guide students in projects involving attitude determination, orbit control, and mission analysis.
  • Develop and implement simulation-based labs using MATLAB/Simulink, Python, STK, and related tools.
  • Establish and strengthen laboratory facilities for spacecraft dynamics, GNC, and hardware-in-the-loop experiments.
  • Collaborate with ISRO, DRDO, space startups, and international universities for research and internships.
  • Participate in curriculum development, accreditation processes, and submitted research proposals.

Job description

Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified and motivated faculty member with expertise in Spacecraft Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) to contribute to teaching, research, laboratory development, and academic activities in Aerospace Engineering. The candidate will be expected to teach courses related to Spacecraft Control Theory, Spacecraft Navigation and Guidance, and Spacecraft Stability and Control, while contributing to research and project-based learning in spacecraft and space systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in:
    • Spacecraft Control Theory
    • Spacecraft Guidance and Navigation
    • Spacecraft Stability and Control
    • Spacecraft Dynamics and Attitude Determination
    • Orbital Mechanics and Space Mission Design, as required.
  • Develop course materials, lecture content, laboratory exercises, assignments, projects, and assessments in accordance with Outcome-Based Education (OBE) principles.
  • Conduct theoretical and computational studies of spacecraft dynamics, attitude motion, stability, and control systems.
  • Guide students in projects involving spacecraft attitude determination and control, orbit control, guidance and navigation algorithms, and mission analysis.
  • Develop and implement simulation-based laboratories using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, STK, and other spacecraft/mission-analysis software.
  • Establish and strengthen laboratory facilities related to spacecraft dynamics, GNC, simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop experimentation.
  • Develop collaborations with ISRO, DRDO, space startups, research laboratories, and international universities for research, sponsored projects, internships, and student projects.
  • Participate in curriculum development, Board of Studies activities, accreditation processes, and other academic responsibilities.
  • Prepare and submit research proposals to agencies such as ISRO, SERB/ANRF, DRDO, DST, and other national/international funding agencies.
  • Publish research findings in reputed SCI/SCIE-indexed journals and international conferences.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary research involving AI/ML, robotics, autonomous systems, estimation theory, optimization, and space systems engineering.
Educational Qualification:
  • Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering / Aeronautical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Control Systems / Robotics / a closely related discipline from a reputed institution.
  • Master's degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or a closely related specialization.
  • Strong academic and research background in spacecraft dynamics, guidance, navigation, stability and control will be preferred.
Preferred Experience
  • Teaching experience in Spacecraft Dynamics and Control, Spacecraft Guidance and Navigation, Control Systems, Orbital Mechanics, or related subjects.
  • Demonstrated research experience in spacecraft GNC or related control applications.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, STK, GMAT, or equivalent simulation platforms.
  • Experience in developing spacecraft/space systems laboratories or hardware-in-the loop simulations.
  • Industry/research experience with ISRO, DRDO, space organizations, aerospace companies, or research laboratories will be an added advantage.
