Job summary

KSB Company in India seeks an API pump engineering specialist to support project execution from order review to release of drawings and BOMs. You will ensure API 610/682 compliance, coordinate with global teams, and provide engineering guidance across manufacturing and field activities.

You will review quality plans and documentation, manage revisions, and contribute to product development and standardization efforts for API pump packages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 4–8 years of API pump engineering experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of API 610 centrifugal pumps and API 682 seals.
• Familiarity with CAD tools, SAP MM/PP and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Review customer orders, technical specs, datasheets and project requirements for API pump packages.
• Verify order indents, BOM requirements and documentation for completeness and technical correctness.
• Coordinate with LAC/RAC, CM, PM and Manufacturing for clarification and resolution of technical issues.
• Participate in internal kick-off meetings and provide technical guidance on API requirements and project execution.
• Review and approve Pump QCPs, ITPs and customer documentation requirements.
• Prepare and release pump BOMs in SAP within defined timelines.
• Manage engineering changes and revisions from client comments and manufacturing feedback.
• Prepare, review and release manufacturing drawings for API pumps and auxiliaries.

Job description

Major Responsibilities

• Review customer orders, technical specifications, datasheets and project requirements for API pump packages.
• Verify order indents, BOM requirements and documentation for completeness and technical correctness.

Quality Plans & Documentation

• Review and approve Pump Quality Control Plans (QCPs), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and customer documentation requirements.
• Ensure correct application of inspection classes, material requirements, NDT requirements and witness points as per customer specifications and API standards.

Part List and Drawing Release

• Prepare and release accurate pump part lists (BOMs) in SAP within defined timelines.
• Manage engineering changes and implement revisions resulting from customer comments, manufacturing feedback and project requirements.
• Prepare, review and release manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, machining drawings and assembly check drawings for API pumps and their auxiliaries.
• Control revision management and archiving of engineering documents as per company procedures.

Product Support & Problem Resolution

• Provide engineering support during manufacturing, assembly and testing activities.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues related to hydraulics, mechanical design, materials, sealing systems, bearings and auxiliary systems.
• Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Participate in field investigations and customer site visits, where required, to assess critical equipment performance issues.

API Compliance & Product Development

• Ensure compliance with API 610, API 682 and applicable international standards and customer specifications.
• Support development and localization activities for API pump products.
• Coordinate with global engineering centers, testing departments and suppliers for design validation and implementation of product improvements.
• Evaluate and implement order-specific engineering developments and customer deviations.

3D Modelling & Design Support

• Support 3D modelling activities by providing required engineering inputs, drawings and design data.
• Review and validate 3D models to ensure compliance with manufacturing and assembly requirements.

Standardization & Inventory Optimization

• Participate in standardization projects for pump components and assemblies.
• Support inventory reduction initiatives through component commonization and engineering optimization.
• Maintain engineering master data and ensure consistency across product lines.

Process Improvement & Digitization

• Contribute to digitalization initiatives for engineering and product support processes.
• Develop and improve engineering databases, templates and workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Maintain engineering documentation and technical libraries.

Requirement Profile

Formal Education

• Bachelor of Engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering

Professional Experience

• 4–8 years of experience in API pump engineering, product support, design or application engineering within the pump industry.

Special Skills

• Strong knowledge of API 610 centrifugal pumps.
• Working knowledge of API 682 mechanical seal systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, NX/UG or equivalent CAD software.
• Working knowledge of SAP MM/PP modules.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials and testing requirements for API pumps.
• Ability to read and interpret customer specifications, datasheets and P&IDs.
