Job summary

Emami is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager Hair Care Formulation to join our R&D team in Goregaon, Maharashtra. You will develop, optimize, and troubleshoot shampoos, conditioners, oils, and other hair care products with hands-on cosmetic ingredients knowledge.

The role includes laboratory trials, stability studies, product scale-up, and cross-functional coordination with manufacturing and QA. Strong understanding of surfactants, silicones, polymers, and regulatory documentation is

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in developing, optimizing and troubleshooting hair care formulations.
• Experience with laboratory trials, stability testing and product scale-up.
• Knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, surfactants, silicones, polymers and rheology modifiers.

Responsibilities

• Develop formulations for shampoos, conditioners, hair oils, hair masks, serums and other hair care products.
• Translate briefs into feasible formulations and conduct prototype development.
• Plan and conduct laboratory trials, stability studies and performance evaluations.
• Troubleshoot viscosity, phase separation, colour/odour changes and compatibility issues.

Role & responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager Hair Care Formulation to join our R&D team. The candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing and troubleshooting hair care formulations, with hands-on experience in cosmetic ingredients, laboratory trials, stability testing and product scale-up

Preferred candidate profile

Product Formulation & Development

• Develop formulations for shampoos, conditioners, hair oils, hair masks, serums and other hair care products.
• Translate product briefs and consumer/brand requirements into feasible formulations.
• Conduct laboratory trials, prototype development and formulation optimization.

Formula Optimization & Troubleshooting

• Optimize formulations for performance, sensory attributes, stability and cost.
• Conduct benchmarking against existing and competitive products.
• Troubleshoot issues related to viscosity, phase separation, colour/odour changes, compatibility and stability.

Stability & Product Performance

• Plan and monitor stability studies under different storage conditions.
• Evaluate appearance, colour, odour, pH, viscosity, specific gravity and microbiological quality.
• Coordinate performance evaluation, sensory studies and instrumental testing.
• Analyze stability trends and recommend corrective actions.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of Hair Care formulation and cosmetic ingredients.
• Hands-on experience in shampoo, conditioner and/or hair oil formulation.
• Good understanding of surfactants, conditioning agents, silicones, polymers, actives, preservatives and rheology modifiers.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of stability testing, scale-up and manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of cosmetic regulatory requirements and documentation.
• Strong project management and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Good communication, presentation and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects.
• Commercial and consumer-oriented mindset.

Educational Qualification

• M.Sc. / M.Tech. / B.Tech. in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Pharmacy or Chemical Technology.
• Specialization in Cosmetic / Personal Care Formulation will be an added advantage.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Candidates with 58 years of relevant experience in Hair Care Formulation/R&D, Personal Care or Cosmetic industries, particularly those with hands-on experience in shampoo, conditioner and/or hair oil formulation.
