Job summary

ITC Limited in Haridwar seeks an experienced EHS professional to lead environmental health and safety initiatives on the shop floor. You will implement regulations, conduct risk assessments, and ensure safe work practices through regular rounds and liaison with staff.

The role requires a Diploma in Industrial Safety Management, about 10 years of shop floor experience, knowledge of MSDS and machine guarding, plus strong people and training skills to educate workers and ensure compliance with

Qualifications

• Must have Diploma by RLIS/CLIS in Industrial Safety Management.
• Should have approx. 10 years shop floor experience and be conversant with safe work habits to educate the workmen on safe practices.
• Competency in machine guarding and the importance of electrical inter-locking where necessary.
• Strong in communications to impart effective safety training and ensure compliance.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and advise the Management on the impacts of environmental pollution parameters and suggest controls per regulations.
• Ensure safe work practices through regular rounds and liaison with workmen and staff.
• Maintain records as per Corporate Safety guidelines and liaise with departments to ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with Corporate Safety regarding training needs of the unit.
• Prepare reports and follow up on EHS audits and internal audits.
• Plan and conduct EHS Committee Meetings (Central and Departmental).
• Carry out risk assessments / hazard spotting exercises regularly.

• Recommend and advise the Management through his sound knowledge the impacts of various environment pollution parameters and suggest ways & means of controlling the same as per laid down regulations.
• Ensure through regular rounds/ proper liasioning with workmen & staff that safe work practices are followed.
• Ensure that proper records as per the guidelines of Corporate Safety are maintained. To liaise with various departments and ensure this is strictly followed.
• To keep regular contact with Corporate Safety regarding training needs of the unit & required emphasis to be given to this area.
• Ensure formal reports/reviews of action plans of EHS audit and regular follow up also on Internal audits.
• Plan and ensure that EHS Committee Meetings (Central as well as Departmental) are held regularly.
• Ensure risk assessment / hazard spotting exercises are carried out on regular basis.

Requirements

Must have Diploma by RLIS/CLIS in the field of Industrial Safety Management being a statutory requirement

• Should have thorough knowledge of various production machines on the floor, materials used including hazardous ones & their MSDS etc. He should know complete details of various machine guarding and the importance of electrical inter-locking whenever necessary
• Should have approx. 10 years shop floor experience & be conversant with safe work habits so as to educate the workmen on safe work practices
• Competency in People management so as to skillfully manage the enforcement of various safety guidelines such that no untoward incidents take place
• Competency in communications skills to impart effective training on safety so that the subject gets due importance it deserves
• Thorough in-depth knowledge of EHS so that all the team members of the unit look towards him as a source of help whenever needed.
