Job summary

Sembcorp Industries Ltd in Haryana, Gurugram invites a skilled Draftsman/Design Engineer to develop detailed engineering designs and drafting deliverables for utility-scale Solar PV projects. You will prepare layout drawings, GA drawings, string layouts, cable routing, and associated electrical/civil drawings, while supporting calculations and BOM generation to ensure project execution.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Draftsmanship.
• 2-5 years of experience in Solar PV design and drafting.
• Experience in utility-scale solar projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed Solar PV plant drawings using AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
• Develop GA drawings, site layouts, module layouts, string layouts, cable routing, and SLDs.
• Prepare mounting structures and foundation drawings; review survey/topographical data.
• Coordinate with electrical, civil, structural, and design engineers for drawing development.
• Generate Bills of Materials (BOM) and support documentation for procurement and construction.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, NEC, IS standards and company practices.

Job description

Responsible for developing detailed engineering designs and drafting deliverables for utility-scale Solar PV projects. The role involves preparing layout drawings, electrical and civil design drawings, supporting engineering calculations, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and generating Bills of Materials (BOM) to ensure successful project execution in line with technical standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed Solar PV plant drawings using AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
• Develop General Arrangement (GA) drawings, site layouts, module layouts, string layouts, cable routing drawings, earthing and lightning protection layouts, inverter and transformer layouts, switchyard drawings, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), and AC/DC schematic drawings.
• Prepare mounting structure and foundation drawings based on engineering design requirements.
• Review survey, topographical, and geotechnical data for preparation of project layouts.
• Coordinate with electrical, civil, structural, and design engineers for drawing development and project execution.
• Incorporate design modifications, maintain drawing revisions, and ensure document control compliance.
• Assist in preparing tender, construction, and as-built drawings.
• Generate Bills of Materials (BOM) and support engineering documentation for procurement and construction.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, NEC, IS standards, utility requirements, and company engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Draftsmanship.

Experience

• 2-5 years of experience in Solar PV design and drafting.
• Experience in utility-scale solar projects is preferred.
• Exposure to EPC project execution will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D).
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and SketchUp.
• Working knowledge of PVsyst and Helioscope preferred.
• Strong understanding of Solar PV plant design principles and system components.
• Knowledge of:
  • Electrical Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
  • DC & AC cable routing
  • Earthing and lightning protection systems
  • Solar tracker and fixed-tilt mounting systems
