Job summary

Aditya Birla Lifestyle Brands Limited (ABLBL) is seeking a creative Menswear Designer with a focus on knits to craft contemporary collections including Sweatshirts, Sweaters, Polos and Crew Necks from trends to final product.

You will translate seasonal trends into commercially viable pieces, working closely with merchandising, sourcing and production teams in Bengaluru. A background in leading fashion or lifestyle brands and a passion for knitwear are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Diploma in Fashion/Knits design from a recognised institute.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in Menswear Knits design.
• Experience with leading fashion/retail/lifestyle brands preferred.
• Experience designing casualwear and knitwear categories.

Responsibilities

• Design seasonal collections for menswear knits: Sweatshirts, Sweaters, Polos, Crew Neck styles.
• Conduct trend research, market analysis, and consumer insights to spot opportunities.
• Create mood boards, concept presentations, color palettes, fabric stories and design briefs.
• Develop sketches, technical specs, and artwork using design software.
• Collaborate with merchandising, sourcing, and production teams for timely development.
• Work with fabric and trim suppliers on materials, finishes, and washes.
• Participate in fittings and proto reviews to ensure design intent.
• Balance fashion, quality, cost, and commercial viability.
• Monitor product performance and iterate on future collections.
• Stay updated on global menswear, knitwear, athleisure, and casualwear trends.

About the Role

A creative and trend-driven Menswear Designer with experience in the Knits category to design and develop contemporary menswear collections across Sweatshirts, Sweaters, Polos, and Crew Necks. Responsible for translating seasonal trends into commercially viable products while ensuring alignment with brand aesthetics, target consumer preferences, and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop seasonal collections for Sweatshirts, Sweaters, Polos, and Crew Neck styles within the menswear knits category.
• Conduct trend research, market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and consumer insights to identify emerging fashion opportunities.
• Create mood boards, concept presentations, color palettes, fabric stories, and design briefs.
• Develop detailed sketches, technical specifications, and artwork using design software.
• Work closely with merchandising, sourcing, technical, and production teams to ensure timely product development.
• Collaborate with fabric and trim suppliers to identify innovative materials, constructions, washes, and finishes.
• Participate in prototype reviews, fit sessions, and sample evaluations to ensure design intent is maintained.
• Ensure collections achieve the right balance between fashion, quality, cost, and commercial viability.
• Monitor product performance and incorporate learnings into future collections.
• Stay updated on global menswear, knitwear, athleisure, and casualwear trends.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Knitwear Design, or a related discipline from a recognized institute.
• 2-5 years of relevant experience in Menswear Knits Design.
• Prior experience with leading fashion, retail, lifestyle, or apparel brands.
• Experience designing across casualwear and knitwear categories.
