Job summary

ConveGenius in India seeks a seasoned backend lead to architect REST APIs and deliver low-latency, scalable services. You will spearhead GenAI-powered backend enhancements, ensure performance and reliability, and collaborate with frontend teams to enable seamless integrations.

You will mentor engineers, plan capacity, and drive engineering best practices, code reviews, and timely delivery aligned with the technology roadmap.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement REST APIs.
• Design and implement low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications.
• Lead integration of GenAI-powered capabilities into backend systems, including prompt-based APIs and tool-using agents.
• Test software to ensure responsiveness, correctness and efficiency.
• Collaborate with front-end developers on the integration of elements.
• Take initiatives to build better and faster solutions to the problems of scale.
• Troubleshoot application-related issues and work with the infrastructure team to triage Major Incidents.
• Experience in analyzing/researching solutions and developing/implementing recommendations accordingly.

Team Management:

• Lead and manage a team of backend developers, setting clear goals, delegating responsibilities, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
• Mentor team members through regular one-on-ones, technical guidance, performance feedback, and development planning.
• Plan team capacity and priorities, track delivery commitments, and resolve technical and execution blockers.
• Support hiring and onboarding of backend developers and establish consistent code-review, testing, and engineering practices across the team.
• Work with the AVP Technology to align team priorities with the technology roadmap and communicate delivery progress, risks, and resource requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Minimum of four years of professional experience
• Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring developers, including work allocation, delivery ownership, and performance feedback.
• Expertise in JavaScript (ES6) and Node JS is a must
• Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures
• In-depth knowledge of frameworks like Express JS and Restify
• Experience in building backend services for handling data at large scale is a must
• Ability to architect high-availability applications and servers on cloud adhering to best practices; microservices architecture is preferable
• Experience working with MySQL and NoSQL databases like DynamoDB and MongoDB
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or equivalent GenAI agentic frameworks is a strong plus
• Experience writing complex SQL queries
• In-depth knowledge of Node JS concepts like the event loop
• Ability to perform technical deep-dives into code
• Experience building and deploying GenAI-powered backend services or tools such as prompt routers, embedding search, and RAG pipelines
• Understanding of communication using WebSockets
• Good understanding of clean architecture and SOLID principles
• Basic knowledge of AWS and Docker containerization is preferable
• Experience in Python is a plus
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude to accelerate development, assist in code reviews, and support efficient coding practices is a plus
