Job summary

Atrac Engineering seeks an experienced AGM – Machining to lead its machining operations in Mumbai, driving productivity, quality and on-time delivery for cylinder liners and sleeves. You will spend significant time on the shop floor, solving problems, mentoring teams and delivering measurable improvements.

The ideal candidate has 12–15 years of manufacturing experience with 5+ years in machining management, plus hands-on CNC turning, boring, grinding and honing expertise.

Qualifications

• 12–15 years of manufacturing experience with 5+ years in machining management.
• Strong hands-on machining leadership with CNC turning, boring, grinding and honing.
• Experience with precision cylindrical/cast iron components such as cylinder liners or sleeves.

Job description

Atrac Engineering is looking for an experienced and results-driven AGM – Machining to lead and manage our machining operations for cylinder liners and sleeves.

The role will be responsible for driving production, productivity, quality, delivery, cost optimisation, machine utilisation and team performance across the machining department. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in precision machining and a proven track record of managing high-volume automotive/engine-component manufacturing operations.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a hands‑on machining leader, not just a production administrator. The ideal candidate should be comfortable spending time on the shop floor, analysing machining problems, challenging existing processes, developing teams and delivering measurable improvements in productivity, quality, cost and delivery.

Candidates with experience in automotive, tractor, diesel engine, auto‑component or precision engineering manufacturing will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end machining operations for cylinder liners, sleeves and related components.
• Achieve production targets, OEE, productivity and delivery schedules.
• Optimise CNC turning, boring, grinding, honing, facing, grooving and chamfering processes.
• Improve cycle time, tool life, machine utilisation and capacity while reducing costs.
• Ensure product quality by reducing rejection, rework and process variation.
• Drive RCA, 5 Why, 8D, CAPA, Poka‑Yoke, SPC and Cp/Cpk improvements.
• Lead Lean, Kaizen, 5S, automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage and develop machining engineers, supervisors, operators and technicians.
• Coordinate with PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, Purchase, Stores and Dispatch.
• Ensure safety, process discipline and compliance with SOPs and quality standards.

Candidate Profile

• 12-15 years of manufacturing experience, with 5+ years in machining management.
• Strong experience in CNC turning, boring, grinding and honing.
• Experience with precision cylindrical/cast iron components; cylinder liners or sleeves preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cutting tools, tooling, machining parameters and process optimisation.
• Good knowledge of drawings, GD&T, SPC, Cp/Cpk, MSA, RCA, 8D and Poka‑Yoke.
• Proven ability to deliver production, productivity, quality and cost targets.
• Strong leadership, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Automobile Engineering or related field.
