About Ocean Freight Operations

The Ocean Freight Operations team plays a pivotal role in managing all ocean-bound imports and exports, utilizing a diverse range of equipment and services. The team collaborates closely with a network of ocean carriers, Procurement & capacity management (PCM), and participating in major carrier alliances to secure planned space protection from key container ports globally. This meticulous coordination is essential for ensuring a reliable and efficient transportation process for ocean-bound cargo.

Job Summary

As an integral part of Ocean Freight Field Operations, this role involves liaising with Shipping lines and customs authorities to facilitate the timely arrival and departure of cargo, supporting import and export operations at DGF’s Satellite locations. The incumbent will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of service delivery, fostering relationships with stakeholders, and contributing to the overall success of the ocean freight operations team.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

• Ensure cost-effective, high-quality import/export ocean freight operations at satellite locations.
• Procure and manage cargo capacity cost-effectively, overseeing all port operations.
• Ensure operational compliance and error-free documentation.
• Coordinate all physical handling activities at CFS, adhering to regulations and internal procedures in line with the Quality & Environment Management Systems.
• Align processes to deliver as per customer requirements.
• Provide guidelines to CFS to ensure handling operations are consistent with the group's business strategy.
• Vendor management and Timeliness through CW1.
• Monitor quality and adherence to standards, responsible for continuous improvement and optimization of product means.
• Monitor and control costs, implementing cost improvement levers.
• Develop a high-performance service culture within the CFS.
• Drive implementation of key initiatives.
• Coordinate with transporters for timely placement/delivery of containers to avoid detention/storage costs.
• Monitor/handle hub movements for ICD as per the defined schedule.
• Ensure timely filing of SMTP with customs for hinterland shipments.

• Maintain stuffing/destuffing photographs.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes with Customs/CFS.

• Taking complete responsibility for independently managing customer accounts, guided by both supervisor and manager, following the 'one file, one operator' approach.

Must Have

• 2-3 years of experience in the shipping/logistics industry for Executive/Sr. Exec.

• Basic problem-solving skills to address common challenges.
• Proficient in Email writing and verbal communication with internal and external coordination.
