Job summary

Lloyds Steels in Mumbai is seeking a Costing & Estimation professional to review RFQs, prepare detailed cost estimates, develop BOMs and pricing models for bids and life-cycle opportunities. You’ll support commercial reviews by identifying risks and drivers, negotiate with suppliers to optimize costs, and track costs against baselines while improving costing models with actual project data.

The role focuses on cost optimization, vendor management, and accurate, auditable cost documentation for

Qualifications

• Review RFQs, tenders, specifications, and customer requirements from Defence customers, shipyards, and OEM partners.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates covering materials, bought-outs, fabrication, machining, assembly, testing, logistics, warranty, and overheads.
• Develop BOMs, cost sheets, and pricing models for new bids, repeat orders, and Product Life Support opportunities.
• Support bid reviews by identifying commercial risks, assumptions, and cost drivers.
• Identify localization and alternate sourcing opportunities to reduce costs and improve supply resilience.
• Establish project cost baselines and track actual costs against estimates.
• Continuously improve costing models using actual project data and lessons learned.
• Maintain standardized costing templates, historical cost databases, and vendor rate records.
• Ensure estimates are traceable, documented, and audit-ready; assist profitability analysis and pricing strategy recommendations.

Responsibilities

Costing & Estimation

• Review RFQs, tenders, specifications, and customer requirements from Defence

• Source and evaluate supplier quotations through techno-commercial analysis.
• Develop and maintain a qualified vendor database for mechanical, hydraulic,

electrical, and marine equipment.

• Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms to achieve cost

competitiveness.

• Identify localization and alternate sourcing opportunities to reduce costs and

improve supply resilience.

Commercial & Post-Award Support

• Support preparation of commercial proposals, budgetary quotations, and cost

justifications.

• Establish project cost baselines and track actual costs against estimates.
• Assess cost impacts arising from engineering changes, scope variations, and

customer-driven modifications.

• Continuously improve costing models using actual project data and lessons

learned.

Systems & Governance

• Maintain standardized costing templates, historical cost databases, and vendor

rate records.

• Ensure all estimates are traceable, documented, and audit-ready.
• Support management with profitability analysis and pricing strategy

recommendations.
