Job summary

WSP India is seeking a skilled drafter for EHV projects including AIS and GIS up to 400kV, with a strong emphasis on 132kV. The role involves creating detailed 2D/3D drawings, developing SLDs, layouts, and routing for complex substations.

You will coordinate with Civil/Structural, Networks, and Transmission teams, review designs, and liaise with clients. Diploma in Engineering is required; Revit and CAD tools are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed engineering drawings for EHV projects (AIS/GIS) from 11kV to 400kV, with emphasis on 132kV+.
• Prepare EC&I deliverables: Single Line Diagrams, loop drawings, plant layouts, cable routing, and switchgear configurations using 2D/3D tools.
• Develop drawings to support detailed engineering: Land Utilisation Plan, elevations, conduit layouts, grounding, lighting, and BOMs.
• Coordinate design activities across Civil/Structural, Networks, and Transmission teams; conduct design reviews and virtual meetings with clients.
• Assist in revising existing drawings from sketches/layouts; ensure adherence to drafting standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed engineering drawings for Extra High Voltage (EHV) projects, covering both Air Insulated Substations (AIS) and Gas Insulated Substations (GIS), ranging from 11kV up to 400kV (with a particular emphasis on 132kV voltages and above)
• Preparation and development of EC&I deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams, loop drawings, cable block diagrams, plant layouts, cable routing, cable containment design and switchgear configurations using both 2D and 3D software packages;
• Develop drawings to support detailed engineering, such as Land Utilisation Plan, Elevations, Above and Below Grade Conduit layouts, Grounding layout &its connection details, Lighting and Lightning protection with respective details, Bill of Materials, CDM, MEWP layouts.
• Facilitate coordination of design activities across various departments, including Civil/Structural, Networks, and Transmission Line. Conduct design reviews, participate in virtual meetings, and collaborate closely with clients.
• Assist with preparing drawings and revising existing engineering drawings of basic components from specific sketches or layouts.
• Responsible for adhering to company and client drafting standards and procedures.
• Responsible for adhering to the drafting practices of selected discipline.
• Coordinate with team members and monitor project schedules, ensuring submissions meet high-quality standards.
• Maintain compliance to CDM Regulations and all other legal and regulatory requirements associated with the nature of substation and electrical system design.
• Collaborate with WSP UK office on design activities.
• Develop and enhance processes, tools, and potentially implement new technologies into the design process.
• Periodic Quality check to be conducted for other engineers & designers.
• Exhibit ingenuity, foresight, and wise decision-making skills in proactively identifying and resolving challenges.
• Contribute to the progress and growth of departmental tools and workflows aimed at improving the effectiveness of design processes, specification development, and project implementation.
• Experience on working in Raster image files.
• Preferably familiar with UK projects. Experience of working in a lead substation design role on National Grid Electricity Transmission projects (or other UK utilities like SSEN, SPEN etc.) in the UK will be an added advantage.
• Experience in Onshore wind, Offshore wind, Renewable (solar) and BESS projects is preferred.
• Familiarity with 3D tools (Revit) for Engineering design is desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
