BITS Design School is seeking passionate and accomplished academicians to join our dynamic faculty team across the following Design Verticals: Visual Design, Physical Product Design, Digital Product Design, Experience Design, Research, Transdisciplinary Design.
Qualifications
- Optional - Ph.D. in Design or related field
- Preferred: Master’s in Design (M.Des.)
- Bachelor’s in Design (B.Des.)
- Any other appropriate qualification if applicable
Experience Required
- Ph.D. + 5 years of academic/industry experience
- Master’s + 7–10 years of academic/industry experience
Teaching & Curriculum Development
- Design and develop curriculum aligned with future industry needs and global best practices.
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in domains such as visual communication, user-centered design, sustainable design, digital media, and emerging design disciplines.
- Integrate innovative pedagogical strategies to enhance learning outcomes.
- Mentor students academically and professionally; guide thesis, capstone, and studio projects.
- Create detailed module blueprints with structured learning objectives and session plans.
- Conduct field visits and collaborate with external organizations to build experiential learning opportunities.
Research & Scholarship
- Conduct original research in areas such as design innovation, sustainable practices, emerging technologies, and future-oriented design methods.
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at national/international conferences.
- Seek external funding opportunities and collaborate with industry partners on research initiatives.
Institution Building
- Contribute actively to university governance and strategic planning committees.
- Engage with national and international design communities through conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and public lectures.
- Build collaborations with academic institutions, industries, and global partners to elevate program impact.
- Represent the school at academic forums and foster professional networks.
Industry Partnerships & Placements
- Build and nurture relationships with design studios, corporate partners, and organizations to support internships and placements.
- Work closely with industry stakeholders to align academic training with market expectations.
- Leverage alumni networks for placement opportunities and industry insights.
Professional Development
- Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and developments in design practice.
- Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to the broader academic community.
