Role Overview
AS400 A day in the life of an Infoscion As part of the Infosys delivery team, your primary role would be to interface with the client for quality assurance, issue resolution and ensuring high customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Understand requirements, create and review designs, validate the architecture, and ensure high levels of service offerings to clients in the technology domain.
- Participate in project estimation, provide inputs for solution delivery, conduct technical risk planning, perform code reviews and unit test plan reviews.
- Lead and guide your teams towards developing optimized high-quality code deliverables, continual knowledge management, and adherence to organizational guidelines and processes.
- Be a key contributor to building efficient programs/systems to help clients navigate their digital transformation journey.
Qualifications & Skills
- Knowledge of more than one technology, basics of architecture and design fundamentals, testing tools, agile methodologies, project lifecycle activities for development and maintenance projects, estimation methodologies, quality processes, business domain understanding.
- Good understanding of technology and domain, ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of software quality assurance principles, SOLID design principles and modeling methods, awareness of latest technologies and trends.
- Excellent problem solving, analytical and debugging skills, strong technical skills, good communication skills.
- Primary skills: AS400 technical leadership, lead end-to-end development and maintenance of AS400/IBM i applications, hands‑on expertise in RPG (RPGLE / Free RPG), CL, COBOL, and DB2/400.
- Design, review, and optimize application architecture and database designs; drive modernization initiatives (e.g., Free RPG, APIs, UI modernization).
Delivery & Support
- Oversee application support, incident management, and root cause analysis; ensure adherence to SLAs, coding standards, and best practices.
- Manage enhancements, production support, and system upgrades; coordinate deployments and release management activities.
- Act as primary point of contact for business and client stakeholders; mentor and guide junior developers and analysts.
- Participate in effort estimation, sprint planning, and delivery tracking; collaborate with cross‑functional teams including QA, Infra, and Business Analysts.
- Maintain technical documentation, design documents, and SOPs; ensure compliance with audit, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in code reviews and quality assurance processes.
Technical Skills (Must Have)
- AS400 / IBM i platform, RPGLE, Free RPG, CL, COBOL, DB2/400, SQL, query optimization.
- Interactive and batch programming; IBM i system utilities, job queues, subsystems.
- Source control and change management tools.
