ZettaMine Labs Pvt. Ltd. in Hyderabad, India is seeking an experienced IBM i specialist to own technical design and delivery for IBM i initiatives. You will provide leadership to developers, drive data migration projects, and ensure secure, resilient operations with strong governance and automation.

The role focuses on RPGLE/CLLE development, DB2 for i, API integrations, and incident/problem management, with opportunities to guide architecture and CI/CD practices within an Agile framework.

Qualificações

• 12+ years of hands-on IBM i / iSeries / AS400 experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong development in RPGLE (Free) and CLLE; COBOL a plus depending on estate.
• Strong DB2 for i capabilities: SQL, performance tuning, data modelling, troubleshooting.
• Experience leading data migration programmes (ETL, reconciliation, cutover).
• Knowledge of APIs, microservices, REST/JSON, authentication basics.

Responsabilidades

• Own technical design and delivery for IBM i initiatives, ensuring secure, resilient, and supportable solutions.
• Provide day-to-day technical direction to developers: coding standards, design reviews, estimation, prioritisation.
• Lead root-cause analysis for major incidents and drive permanent fixes via problem management.
• Promote CI/CD and test automation for IBM i delivery where tooling supports them.
• Coach the team on engineering practices: quality gates, definition of done, and technical debt management.
• Enable integrations using API concepts, ensure observability, logging, and reliable retries.
• Own release readiness: deployment planning, back-out strategies, post-release validation, and production sign-off.

• Own technical design and delivery for IBM i initiatives, ensuring solutions are secure, resilient, and supportable.
• Have hands-on experience in data migration projects, migrating data from one system to another by developing transformation and loading scripts/builds.
• Provide day-to-day technical direction to developers, including coding standards, design reviews, estimation, and prioritisation.
• Partner with architecture, infrastructure, security, and product owners to align delivery with strategic roadmaps.
• Ensure documentation is fit for purpose, including solution designs, runbooks, support guides, and knowledge articles.
• Design, develop, and maintain IBM i applications using RPGLE (Free preferred), CL/CLLE, and COBOL (as applicable).
• Work with DB2 for i, including SQL, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and locking/journalling considerations.
• Lead root-cause analysis for major incidents and drive permanent fixes through problem management.
• Apply IBM i operational concepts, including subsystems, job queues, output queues, work management, and scheduling.
• Implement robust exception handling, logging, and recovery patterns to improve operational resilience.
• Provide L3 production support and technical oversight for L2 teams; participate in on-call and major incident support as required.
• Drive stability improvements through trend analysis, defect prevention, and proactive monitoring enhancements.
• Own release readiness, including deployment planning, back-out strategies, post-release validation, and production sign-off.
• Enable and consume integrations using API concepts (REST/JSON), service enablement patterns, and middleware where relevant.
• Ensure integrations are observable and supportable through logging, alerts, error handling, and retries.
• Preferred: Build automation using Python (or similar technology) for products, data migration, operational tasks, reconciliation, reporting, and input/output validation.
• Good to have: Explore AI-enabled improvements, such as log analytics, anomaly detection, and incident triage support, in collaboration with platform/tooling teams.
• Promote CI/CD and test automation practices for IBM i delivery where tooling supports them.
• Lead technical delivery in Agile (Scrum/Kanban), including refinement, estimation, sprint planning, and continuous improvement.
• Coach the team on engineering practices, including quality gates, peer reviews, definition of done, and technical debt management.
• Keep up to date with current tools, technologies, cybersecurity, and regulations pertaining to data privacy, consent, and data residency.

To Be Successful in This Role:

• 12+ years of hands-on experience with IBM i / iSeries / AS400 in enterprise environments.
• Strong development experience in RPGLE (Free) and CLLE; COBOL is a plus, depending on the estate.
• Strong DB2 for i capabilities, including SQL, performance tuning, data modelling concepts, and troubleshooting.
• Participate in broader discussions about future-state software architecture.
• Knowledge of APIs and microservices, including designing and developing responsive UI components.
• Good troubleshooting skills.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Proven track record in production support, troubleshooting, and major incident/root-cause analysis.
• Solid understanding of exception handling, resilience patterns, and operational controls.
• Working knowledge of API usage and integration concepts, including REST, JSON, and authentication basics.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear actions and decisions.
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts or practical AIOps use cases.
• Experience leading data migration programmes, including ETL, reconciliation, and cutover.
• Python scripting and automation experience.

Good to Have:

• Experience modernising IBM i applications, including service enablement, refactoring, and hybrid integration.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, version control (Git), and automated testing approaches.
