Job summary

Athena Consultancy Services seeks an experienced IT architect to lead modernization of enterprise Java applications and cloud adoption on Microsoft Azure.

You will design cloud-native solutions, migrate monoliths to microservices on AKS, and drive DevOps, CI/CD automation, and governance across projects, while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 12-16 years IT experience with Java-based enterprise applications.
• Hands-on in development, maintenance, modernization, and production support.
• Experience in application migration and modernization on Microsoft Azure.
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing microservices on AKS.
• Experience troubleshooting complex issues across cloud, infrastructure, middleware, and database layers.
• Strong exposure to Agile delivery methodology and DevOps practices.
• Experience with automated deployment, release management, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Good understanding of cloud-native architecture, 12-Factor Apps, SOA, microservices, and containerization.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Lead application modernization and cloud adoption initiatives for enterprise Java applications.
• Assess existing application landscape, architecture, codebase, integrations, and dependencies to define modernization and migration strategies.
• Design and implement cloud-native solutions leveraging Azure services and Kubernetes platforms.
• Migrate monolithic applications to microservices architecture and deploy them on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Provide L3/L4 production support and resolve complex application, infrastructure, and deployment issues.
• Troubleshoot issues in hybrid cloud and multi-tier application environments.
• Ensure application availability, performance, scalability, security, and reliability.
• Manage release deployments and support CI/CD implementation and automation.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, customers, architects, DevOps teams, and development teams to deliver technical solutions.
• Drive best practices around cloud architecture, application modernization, DevOps, and operational excellence.
• Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance across projects.
• Support governance, risk management, compliance, and adherence to enterprise IT standards.

Required Experience

• 12-16 years of IT experience with strong expertise in Java-based enterprise applications.
• Hands-on experience in application development, maintenance, modernization, and production support.
• Strong experience in designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-scale applications.
• Experience in application migration and modernization on Microsoft Azure.
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing microservices-based applications on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Experience troubleshooting complex application issues across cloud, infrastructure, middleware, and database layers.
• Strong exposure to Agile delivery methodology and DevOps practices.
• Experience with automated deployment, release management, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Good understanding of cloud-native architecture, 12-Factor Applications, SOA, microservices, and containerization.
