Job summary

PolyPeptide Laboratories B.V. is seeking an Apprentice – Instrumentation in Ambernath, Maharashtra. This role supports the Instrumentation team with installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation of plant instrumentation systems while ensuring GMP compliance.

The position offers hands-on training in industrial instrumentation, automation, and maintenance, exposure to PLC/SCADA systems, and a path to build a career in Instrumentation and Automation Engineering.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's in Instrumentation Engineering or related discipline.
  • Freshers are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in installation, calibration, and preventive maintenance of field instruments (pressure, temp, flow, level).
  • Support inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Assist in maintaining PLC, SCADA, and automation systems under supervision.
  • Participate in calibration activities and maintain records per GMP.
  • Support breakdown maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Assist testing and commissioning of new instruments and control systems.
  • Maintain instrument history and engineering documentation.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping of instrumentation workshop and work areas.
  • Follow EHS guidelines and permit-to-work systems during maintenance.
  • Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, QA and other departments.

Job Purpose

To support the Instrumentation team in the installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation of plant instrumentation systems while ensuring compliance with safety standards, engineering practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation, calibration, and preventive maintenance of field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters.
  • Support routine inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Assist in maintaining PLC, SCADA, HMI, and automation systems under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Participate in calibration activities and maintain calibration records in accordance with GMP requirements.
  • Support breakdown maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Assist in the testing and commissioning of new instruments and control systems.
  • Maintain instrument history records, maintenance logs, and engineering documentation.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping of the instrumentation workshop and work areas.
  • Follow EHS guidelines, permit-to-work systems, and safe work practices while carrying out maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, and other departments during maintenance and calibration activities.
  • Perform any other assignments as directed by the reporting manager.
Skills & Competencies
  • Basic knowledge of industrial instrumentation and process control systems.
  • Understanding of sensors, transmitters, control valves, PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems.
  • Familiarity with calibration techniques and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and industrial automation.
  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
