Introduction

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (A Government of India Undertaking) – Bongaigaon Refinery has invited applications for Apprentice – 58 Posts. There are 58 vacancies for candidates with Any Graduate, Diploma. The last date to apply is 18 October 2026.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern

There is no written test. Candidates registered on NAPS/NATS and applying against the notification are considered as follows.

Selection is on the percentage of marks, in descending order, in the prescribed qualification for the trade applied for (aggregate of all subjects of all years/semesters), among candidates meeting the eligibility criteria. First-time apprenticeship applicants get preference.

Tie-break: senior by date of birth first

if the date of birth is the same, higher Matriculation percentage.

PwBD candidates who availed relaxation in qualification marks are considered against reserved seats irrespective of position in the select list (in order of merit within the category).

Shortlisted candidates, subject to seats in each trade, are called for document verification and then pre-engagement medical examination.

Filling of seats is at the management's discretion based on suitability, and no claim arises if seats remain unfilled.

Finally shortlisted candidates whose documents and medical fitness certificate are in order are issued an offer of engagement.

Documents Required for IOCL Bongaigaon Apprentice Document Verification

Originals with a self-attested copy are needed:

10th Pass/Matriculation certificate from the concerned board as proof of date of birth.

Class XII marksheet

semester-wise/year-wise mark sheets of Graduation/Diploma in Engineering.

Conversion certificate from CGPA/OGPA/Letter Grade to percentage, if applicable.

Principal's certificate of result publication date, if applicable. It must also state that the course was completed in regular full-time mode and give the candidate's good conduct.

SC/ST/Disability/OBC (NCL) certificate with declaration, or EWS Income & Asset Certificate/declaration, in the prescribed format (on www.iocl.com) from the Competent Authority.

Print of NATS/NAPS portal registration with applicant details.

Affidavit (Annexure–A) confirming compliance with the eligibility conditions.

Any other certificate/document as specified.

One original Photo ID: Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License or Passport.

Medical Fitness and Declarations

Selected candidates must meet the physical fitness standards under the Apprentices Act and amendments. Candidates should read the 'Guidelines and Criteria for pre-engagement medical examinations' on www.iocl.com. PwBD medical examination follows the RPwD Act, 2016. Only candidates declared fit are engaged.

Candidates with reported ailments, deficiencies or abnormalities must declare them in the application.

Candidates declared unfit in a medical examination by any refinery unit or PSU, while seeking apprenticeship or regular employment in the past, must declare it with reasons.

Candidates must declare if they have been arrested, prosecuted, detained, fined, convicted by a court, or debarred/disqualified by any Public Service Commission.

Important Conditions and General Instructions

• Candidature is provisional and subject to verification. False or incorrect information leads to cancellation, possible criminal prosecution, and termination even after engagement.
• The apprenticeship agreement is registered online with the respective authorities.
• Canvassing in any form makes a candidate ineligible.
• Management's decision is final and binding on eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, mode of selection and cancellation of the selection process. No correspondence is entertained.
• Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the local Court at Chirang, for which the candidate has applied.
• Document verification calls and results are published on www.iocl.com and by email.

Annexure – A (Affidavit Format)

The affidavit on stamp paper covers whether the candidate is applying for first-time or second-time apprenticeship, details of the earlier apprenticeship (trade, organisation, period), whether it was completed or terminated (and why), and the gap between the first and second apprenticeship (1 year or more; less than 1 year but more than 3 months; 3 months; or less than 3 months). It carries the candidate's signature, name and NAPS/NATS registration number.
