Job summary

Amazon Science in Bengaluru is seeking researchers to advance competitive monitoring systems through machine learning, large language models in production, and recommender systems impacting customers worldwide.

You will research problem approaches, collaborate with engineers, and contribute to end-to-end solutions while writing reusable code and shaping the CMT science roadmap for future improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
• Experience with SQL and an RDBMS (e.g., Oracle) or Data Warehouse.
• Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application.
• Experience in state-of-the-art optimisation and model pruning.

As a member of the CMT team, you'll play a key role in the evolution of our Competitive Monitoring systems to solve significantly complex and interesting technical challenges in machine learning, large language models in production, and recommender systems to name a few. The team's work directly impacts customer experience at a worldwide scale.

Key job responsibilities

• Research the problem domain and come up with various approaches to solve the problem.
• Be willing to experiment quickly and fail fast.
• Collaborate with engineers to come up with the right end to end solution to the business problems.
• Ideate on future roadmap for science in CMT
• Be willing to roll up your sleeves and learn core topics outside applied science, for example ML engineering

A day in the life

A typical day might involve (a) working on ideas for improving models around product similarity or price recommendations, (b) working closely with other scientists and our ML engineers to ensure that the best models are in production, (c) writing good maintainable code that can be reused and reproduced, (d) sharing your work across CMT and beyond via technical writings and presentations

Basic Qualifications

• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience with SQL and an RDBMS (e.g., Oracle) or Data Warehouse
• Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application
• Experience in state-of-the-… optimisation and model pruning

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code
• Have publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
