Job summary

Tata Power Company seeks a nuclear research professional to support the design and development of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). You will coordinate with research institutions, scientists, and technology partners to advance cutting-edge reactor concepts.

You will monitor global nuclear policy developments and prepare recommendations for Tata Power, helping to shape roadmaps, research plans, and innovation strategies for future projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or Nuclear Physics.
• 4–10 years of nuclear research or reactor technology experience.
• Knowledge of Reactor Physics, Reactor Design, Nuclear Power Plant Systems, Nuclear Thermal Hydraulics, Nuclear Safety, Advanced nuclear technologies.
• Understanding of Large-scale Nuclear Power Project lifecycle and regulatory requirements.
• Strong research, analytical, report-writing, and presentation skills.
• Research publications, patents, or experience in technology innovation preferred.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with technical documentation (Advanced Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint), project planning tools, and digital platforms.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical activities with research institutions, scientists, and technology partners for Tata Powers SMR design initiatives.
• Identify new research opportunities for advanced nuclear reactor technologies.
• Monitor developments in nuclear policies, safety requirements, regulations, and international practices; prepare recommendations for Tata Power.
• Study SMRs, nuclear fusion, and emerging technologies; prepare reports on benefits, challenges, costs, and readiness; present findings to Tata Power.
• Develop research plans, technology roadmaps, and innovation strategies for future nuclear energy projects.
• Plan and develop new nuclear power plant projects through studies and coordination with engineering teams and partners.

Role & responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating technical activities with research institutions, scientists, and technology partners for Tata Powers new Small Modular Reactor (SMR) design and development initiatives.
• Assist in identifying new research opportunities for the development of advanced nuclear reactor technologies.
• Assist in monitoring developments in nuclear technology policies, safety requirements, regulations, and international practices, and in preparing recommendations for their adoption at Tata Power.
• Assist in studying advanced nuclear reactors, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), nuclear fusion, and other emerging technologies. Assist in preparing reports assessing their benefits, challenges, costs, and technological readiness, and in presenting findings and recommendations to help Tata Power evaluate, adopt, or explore these technologies for future applications.
• Assist in developing research plans, technology roadmaps, and innovation strategies for future nuclear energy projects.
• Assist in the planning and development of new nuclear power plant projects through technology studies and coordination with engineering teams and technology partners.

• Serpent - Reactor physics, fuel modelling, and burn-up calculation.
• SCALE (Standardized Computer Analyses for Licensing Evaluation)- Nuclear reactor analysis, criticality safety, shielding, and fuel-cycle calculations
• Nuclear fuel and depletion analysis- ORIGEN, SCALE
• Thermal-hydraulic and reactor system analysis- RELAP5, TRACE, ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL
