Job summary

Adani Power is seeking a seasoned Nuclear Power Engineer to lead engineering activities for the Reactor Island, including NSSS and safety-related systems. You will ensure timely development, review, and approval of engineering deliverables in line with the project schedule.

You will monitor progress, identify bottlenecks affecting procurement, licensing, construction, or commissioning, and coordinate design reviews across reactor island disciplines to ensure alignment with project requirements.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in nuclear power, conventional power, or similarly regulated industries.
• 8–10 years direct experience in reactor island engineering, systems engineering, design review, commissioning, or project engineering.
• Exposure to PHWR and/or international LWR technologies; experience with regulators is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering activities for the Reactor Island, including NSSS and safety-related systems.
• Coordinate reviews and technical assessments across reactor island disciplines.
• Ensure alignment between supplier deliverables and project execution requirements.
• Support regulatory and licensing activities and prepare technical documentation.
• Manage interfaces among civil, mechanical, electrical, I&C, and safety teams.
• Drive design authority and configuration management in collaboration with senior leadership.
• Mentor junior engineers and develop nuclear engineering capability within the organization.

Design Authority & Configuration Management Support

• Support establishment and implementation of Design Authority processes under guidance of Head – Nuclear Engineering.
• Review design changes and modifications affecting nuclear safety, reliability, operability, and constructability.
• Ensure all engineering changes are assessed through appropriate configuration management processes.
• Maintain design basis documentation and engineering records.

Technical Specification & Procurement Support

• Support development and review technical specifications for major reactor island equipment and packages.
• Participate in bid evaluations and technical clarification meetings.
• Review vendor engineering documents and manufacturing drawings.
• Support long-lead equipment identification and procurement planning.
• Assist QA/QC teams in technical inspections and supplier assessments.

Regulatory & Licensing Support

• Support preparation of engineering documentation required for:
  • Site Approval
  • Construction Consent
  • Regulatory Design Reviews
  • Commissioning Clearances
  • Operational Licensing
• Coordinate technical responses to regulatory observations from AERB and other authorities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable:
  • AERB Codes and Guides
  • IAEA Standards
  • ASME Nuclear Codes
  • RCC-M
  • IEC Standards
  • International Nuclear Best Practices
• Participate in regulator interactions and technical presentations

Construction & Commissioning Engineering Support

• Resolve site engineering queries and non-conformances.
• Support construction sequencing and constructability reviews.
• Lead technical evaluation of field change requests.
• Support commissioning procedure reviews and pre-operational testing activities.
• Ensure engineering closure of punch points and commissioning observations.

Reactor Technology & Capability Development

• Develop in-house expertise in selected reactor technologies such as:
  • PHWR
  • VVER
  • AP1000
  • EPR
  • SMR technologies
• Capture and institutionalize lessons learned from global and Indian nuclear projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and develop engineering competency within the organization.
• Support implementation of digital engineering tools, engineering databases, and knowledge management systems.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in nuclear power, conventional power, or other highly regulated process industries.
• Minimum 8–10 years of direct experience in reactor island engineering, systems engineering, design review, commissioning, or project engineering.
• Exposure to PHWR and/or international LWR technologies.
• Experience working with AERB, NPCIL, reactor vendors, or Owner's Engineers would be highly preferred
