Job summary

Nokia in Chennai invites an Applied R&D Engineer to conduct target-oriented research, apply findings to specification, design and incremental product improvement, integrating SW/HW components.

The role demands 5–10 years of development and strong C/C++ in multi-threaded environments, plus deep knowledge of IEEE 802.11 standards, VoIP/SIP, and embedded Linux/RTOS drivers.

You will collaborate with vendors, work on SoCs and drivers, and use debugging tools to verify and optimise performance.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of development and debugging experience in C/C++ for multi-threaded environments.
• Strong knowledge of IEEE 802.11 standards and related network protocols (VoIP, SIP, TCP/IP).
• Experience with Linux/RTOS drivers and firmware (OpenWRT/PrplOS) for embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and debug SW/HW components for WiFi SoCs and integrate with hardware.
• Verify, test, and optimise networking stacks for embedded systems.

The Applied R&D Engineer conducts target-oriented research to directly apply findings to the specification, design, further development, and incremental improvement of products, services, systems, tools, processes, etc. Integrates, verifies, tests, and modifies SW / HW / system components and capitalises on innovative solutions to meet particular requirements and specifications.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

• Strong understanding on “IEEE 802.11 standards (a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be/etc) , Voip, SIP and related network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS) embedded systems (drivers, firmware on Linux/RTOS(OpenWRT/PrplOS)), performance , statistics and Management protocols: OMCI, TR069/TR098/TR181, USP.
• Good Understanding Qualcom/Mediatek/RealTek WiFi chipsets/solutions
• Good understanding on new WiFi System-on-Chips (SoCs) , drivers, integrate with hardware.
• Well versed with debugging tools like ASAN,KSAN, Valgrind Memory Profiling Tool, GDB.
• Understanding different SoC Architecture including 32 bit, 64bit and respective tool chains and able to collaborate with different Vendors to make the solution up and running.

Key Skills And Experience

You have:

• Bachelor or above, telecommunication, electronic engineering, computer science, or related major preferred with 5 to 10 years strong development & debugging understanding on C / C++ in multi process/ threaded environment with following skills.
• Strong understanding on “IEEE 802.11 standards (a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be/etc) , Voip, SIP and related network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS) embedded systems (drivers, firmware on Linux/RTOS(OpenWRT/PrplOS)), performance , statistics and Management protocols: OMCI, TR069/TR098/TR181, USP.

It would be nice if you also had:

• Strong understanding on Linux , IPC techniques, user space and kernel space deep understanding and good understanding on network architecture is preferred
• Understanding of IPV4/IPV6 addressing and TCP/IP and basic understanding of L2/L3 routing, Multicast/IPTV protocols
• Working on GPON technologies is added advantage
