LIC Housing Finance Limited in Mumbai seeks an Application & Middleware Specialist with Application Monitoring specialization to join the IT team. The role involves deploying, configuring, monitoring and maintaining enterprise web and middleware platforms across development, UAT, production and DR environments.

• Position Title: Application & Middleware Specialist with Application Monitoring Specialization

2. Candidate Profile Requirements

A. Mandatory Criteria

• Education Qualification: Full-Time MCA, B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc. in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent qualification with minimum 60% aggregate from a recognized university. Distance Learning and Correspondence degrees will not be considered.
• Minimum Experience Required: 3+ years
• Relevant Industry/Domain Experience: BFSI

B. Preferred Criteria

• Preferred Skills:
• Hands-on experience in Application and Middleware Administration.
• Experience with Apache Tomcat, IBM WebSphere Liberty, JBoss/WildFly, Microsoft IIS and/or Nginx.
• Hands-on experience with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, or Datadog.
• Experience with application and middleware log monitoring and analysis using Splunk, ELK, or equivalent tools.
• Understanding of JVM performance, heap utilization, Garbage Collection, thread pools and connection pools.
• Practical experience in analysing Thread Dumps, Heap Dumps and GC logs.
• Knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS, REST/SOAP APIs, DNS, SSL/TLS, reverse proxy and load balancer concepts.
• Knowledge of JDBC, database connectivity and connection-pool troubleshooting.
• Good understanding of Linux/RHEL administration and Bash scripting.
• Basic knowledge of Python, PowerShell and/or Ansible will be an advantage.
• Experience in application deployment, release support, incident management and change management.
• Ability to perform application-level troubleshooting and coordinate with Application, Database, Infrastructure, Network and Security teams.

Certifications (if any):

• Relevant APM / Observability certification.
• ITIL Foundation.
• IBM WebSphere / Middleware certification.
• AWS / Azure certification will be an advantage.

• Candidate should have practical hands-on experience in production application and middleware support, rather than only theoretical knowledge.
• Candidate should demonstrate the ability to independently perform L2-level application/middleware monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting business-critical applications in BFSI environments will be preferred.
• Candidate should be comfortable working in a 24×7 production support environment, on-call support where required.
• Candidate should possess good analytical, troubleshooting, communication and documentation skills.
• Candidates should have experience working under defined Incident, Problem and Change Management processes.
• Exposure to Disaster Recovery, application failover and production release activities will be an advantage.
• Middleware Administration & Configuration: Deploy, configure, monitor, and maintain enterprise web and application server platforms such as Apache Tomcat, IBM WebSphere Liberty, JBoss/WildFly, Microsoft IIS and Nginx across Development, UAT, Production and DR environments.
• Application Performance Monitoring & Observability: Configure and utilize APM, monitoring and log analytics platforms to monitor application availability, transaction performance, response times, HTTP errors, application exceptions, dependencies and service health.
• JVM Performance Monitoring & Diagnostics: Monitor JVM heap utilization, Garbage Collection, thread pools and connection pools. Capture and perform initial analysis of Thread Dumps, Heap Dumps and GC logs to support diagnosis of memory issues, thread contention, application hangs and performance degradation.
• Application Incident Triage & RCA: Perform L2 application and middleware troubleshooting for application degradations, errors and outages. Identify whether issues originate from application, middleware, database, infrastructure or network components and coordinate with relevant teams for resolution and RCA.
• Application Deployment & Release Support: Support application deployments, middleware configuration changes, patch implementation, SSL/TLS certificate renewal, release validation, rollback and post-deployment verification through established Change Management processes.
• Monitoring & Alert Management: Configure and maintain monitoring dashboards, alerts, thresholds and escalation mechanisms. Identify application performance degradation and proactively **escalate** critical issues.
• Log Monitoring & Analysis: Analyse application, middleware, access, error, JVM and system logs to identify failures, recurring errors, abnormal behaviour and performance issues.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts for application health checks, service validation, alert verification, log parsing, reporting and routine middleware operations using Bash, Python, PowerShell or equivalent technologies.
• Application Dependency Monitoring: Monitor and troubleshoot application dependencies including databases, APIs, web services, DNS, load balancers, network connectivity and other supporting services.
• Security & Compliance Support: Support middleware hardening, SSL/TLS configuration, certificate lifecycle management, security patching, vulnerability remediation and access-control requirements.
• Change & Incident Management: Follow established Incident, Problem and Change Management processes and participate in production releases, critical incident handling, RCA and corrective/preventive action activities.
• Documentation & Audit Support: Maintain application monitoring dashboards, SOPs, runbooks, configuration documents, deployment procedures, incident records and other operational documentation. Provide required evidence for internal, external, information-security and regulatory audits
