Job summary

Givaudan in Mumbai seeks an Application Manager for Sweet Goods to drive end-to-end product development from concept to commercialization. You will act as the technical lead for flavour applications and partner with marketing, sales, and customers to deliver innovative solutions.

Ideal candidates bring 10–12 years in bakery/confectionery, strong project management, and hands-on flavour expertise to translate consumer insights into new product concepts while mentoring technical teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology field is required.
• 10–12 years of experience in Bakery & Confectionery within FMCG, NPD, or food/flavours manufacturing environments.
• Strong technical expertise in Sweet Goods applications (Cookies, Cakes, Biscuits, etc.).
• Experience leading complex product development projects from concept to commercialization.

• Serve as technical expert to marketing, sales, flavour creation, and customers.
• Manage flavour evaluations, project briefs, and portfolio assessments.
• Select optimal flavours based on customer, regulatory, and cost requirements.

• Maintain flavour performance data and assist with testing and scale-up.
• Identify appropriate flavour delivery systems and technologies for customer projects.
• Coach, train, and motivate technicians and technologists.
• Ensure EH&S compliant lab operations.

Application Manager (Sweet Goods) - Your future position?

As the leader of the Food Flavouring industry, Givaudan has a track record in transforming industry standards. The Flavour Application Manager role wants to engage with customers as a true partner by directly contributing to the growth of their brands and engaging with their end consumers.

You will be based in Mumbai and you will report to the Head of Application.

Main Responsibilities

As an Application Manager for baked/sweet goods, you will be responsible end to end product development from conceptualization, to table top prototyping and scaling up for commercialization of the product. You will be technical expert and advisor to marketing, sales, flavour creation, and customers for Sweet Goods Applications.

• Execute daily brief-related tasks and apply knowledge during the flavour selection, evaluation and application development
• Serve as technical expert and advisor to marketing, sales, flavour creation, and customers for specific applications
• Lead evaluations of flavours in Sweet Goods applications for briefs, research projects and portfolio evaluations
• Select optimal flavours for projects according to specified requirements (i.e. customer, regulatory, legislation, cost) and suggest improvements for the most common applications
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with a limited number of customers; able to gain their trust and respect
• Actively maintain the flavour performance data for the flavour portfolio through evaluation in finished product and capture of profiles
• Identify appropriate flavour delivery systems and technologies for customer projects in specific applications
• Coach, train, and motivate technicians and technologists
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized lab environment in accordance with EH&S policies and hold others accountable for following these guidelines

Your Professional Profile Includes

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology related science field.
• 10–12 years of experience in Bakery & Confectionery within FMCG, New Product Development, or food/flavours manufacturing environments.
• Strong technical expertise in Sweet Goods applications, particularly Bakery & Confectionery (Cookies, Cakes, Biscuits, Crackers, Rusk, Candy, Toffee, Jelly, Chewing Gum), including ingredients, formulations, processing, and manufacturing operations.
• Hands-on experience working with customers in manufacturing environments, including leading technical discussions, troubleshooting, plant visits, and project execution.
• Proven ability to lead complex product development projects from concept to commercialization, with strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Solid understanding of raw materials, ingredient functionality, storage, distribution, and product stability.
• Working knowledge of flavour interactions and performance in food systems, with the ability to recommend appropriate flavour modifications.
• Exposure to adjacent application categories such as Healthcare and Beverages is advantageous.
• Ability to translate consumer insights and market trends into innovative product solutions for key customers.
• Experience leading, coaching, or supervising technicians and technologists.
• Technically curious, showcasing creative approach.
• Savvy communicator with collaboration and influencing skills.
• Strong competencies in customer focus, prioritization, decision-making, and organizational skills.
