Job summary

Maxwell Energy Systems in Bengaluru, India, is seeking an Application Engineer specializing in Battery Management Systems (BMS) for EV applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless BMS integration and optimum performance, bridging R&D and customers, and driving innovation in EV battery management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering or related field.
• 2–3 years of embedded electronics experience, preferably with batteries/BMS.
• Experience in embedded systems, digital/analog electronics, and familiar with CAN/J1939/SPI.

Responsibilities

• Become a subject matter expert on Maxwell's BMS solutions and the broader EV battery ecosystem.
• Collaborate with customers through the integration journey—from onboarding to troubleshooting—to ensure successful BMS adoption.
• Design, develop, and optimize BMS solutions for automotive EV applications using embedded electronics.
• Demonstrate hands-on experience with CAN, J1939, SPI, Embedded C, and JSON for robust BMS functionality.
• Engage in requirements elicitation and technical negotiation to translate customer needs into BMS specifications.
• Work with R&D, engineering, and product management to align with project objectives and timelines.
• Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide timely resolutions for BMS challenges.
• Stay updated on ISO26262, UL, and AIS standards to ensure compliance.
• Act as a technical advisor to customers and external stakeholders for BMS integration and performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of BMS design methodologies and best practices.
• Stay current with industry trends in EV battery management.

• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including R&D, engineering, and product management teams, to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines
• Foster effective communication and analytical skills to troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and provide timely resolutions for BMS‑related challenges
• Stay updated with industry standards and regulations, including ISO26262, UL standards, and AIS, to ensure compliance and adherence to quality benchmarks
• Act as a technical advisor and support external stakeholders, including customers and suppliers, by providing technical guidance and resolving inquiries related to BMS integration and performance
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of BMS design methodologies, processes, and best practices to enhance efficiency and innovation within the organization
• Stay up to date on the latest industry trends and technologies related to EV battery management

We're looking for someone with:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in embedded electronics, preferably with a focus on batteries and Battery Management Systems (BMS)
• Proficiency in embedded system engineering, digital/analog electronics, and communication protocols (CAN, J1939, SPI)
• Strong programming skills in Embedded C and experience with JSON for data exchange
• Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Proven experience in requirement elicitation, technical negotiation, and stakeholder management
• Preferable - Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO26262, UL standards, and AIS is desirable
• Mandatory - Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment
• Self‑motivated with a passion for innovation and a drive to deliver high‑quality solutions that meet customer expectations
