Job summary

In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting FutureNow Centers, where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

As an Application Consultant for Cloud Migration, you will act as a consultant for Cloud Migration Solution delivery, utilizing software architecture fundamentals and assets, tools, and the garage method for cloud. You will leverage your expertise in migration solutions for hybrid cloud platforms to drive successful migrations.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Deliver Migration Solutions: Design and implement migration strategies for hybrid cloud platforms, utilizing rehost, refactor, rearchitect, replatform, and containerization techniques to ensure seamless transitions.
Map Components to AWS Services: Identify and map existing components and functionalities to AWS-specific services, considering the advantages and disadvantages of each service to inform migration decisions.
Execute Migration Strategy: Carry out migration plans, ensuring successful architecture implementation and meeting client needs.
Collaborate on Migration Tools: Work with stakeholders to identify and utilize effective migration tools, considering network requirements, application, database, and integration component migration pathways.

Cloud Migration Solution Delivery: Exposure to delivering cloud migration solutions, leveraging software architecture fundamentals, assets, and tools, such as the garage method for cloud.
Hybrid Cloud Platform Expertise: Experience working with hybrid cloud platforms, including designing and implementing migration strategies, and executing architecture implementation.
AWS Service Mapping: Exposure to mapping existing components and functionalities to AWS-specific services, with a deep understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of related AWS Services.
Migration Tool Proficiency: Experience working with migration tools, including understanding migration network requirements, application, database, and integration component migration pathways.
Containerization and Migration Techniques: Exposure to rehost, refactor, rearchitect, replatform, and containerization techniques for seamless transitions.

Preferred technical and professional experience

Hybrid Cloud Platform Knowledge: Experience working with hybrid cloud platforms, including designing and implementing migration strategies, is beneficial. Understanding of architecture implementation and migration tool utilization is also valuable.
Advanced AWS Service Understanding: Exposure to mapping existing components and functionalities to AWS-specific services, with a deep understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of related AWS Services, is preferred.
Containerization Technique Familiarity: Familiarity with rehost, refactor, rearchitect, replatform, and containerization techniques for seamless transitions is desirable.
