Job summary

Swiss Re - Schweizerische Rückversicherungs-Gesellschaft seeks an Application Architect III to drive architectural evolution, evaluate emerging tech, and set technical direction for a global developer community across the full lifecycle from concept to production support.

You will mentor developers, lead design reviews, and ensure alignment with business strategy and IT standards while operating within a hybrid model requiring in-office presence several days a week.

• Design and architect scalable, reusable solutions and establish patterns for a broader developer community.
• Translate business requirements into system designs prioritising quality, reusability, scalability, availability and maintainability.
• Define technical architecture across all phases of the lifecycle—from modelling and design to development, testing and production support.
• Present architectural ideas to diverse stakeholders and facilitate review sessions.
• Mentor developers to align code with architectural designs and best practices.
• Provide hands-on technical support to resolve complex challenges and unblock delivery.
• Align solutions with business strategy and IT standards to support long-term goals.

About the Role

As an Application Architect III, you will be at the heart of our technology evolution — evaluatingemerging technologies, designing robust solutions, and setting the technical direction for a large and talented developer community. You will work across the full solution development lifecycle, from concept and design through to delivery and production support, making a tangible difference to how Corporate Solutions operates globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and prototype eme rging technologies in close collaboration with the ProductManager, drawing well-informed conclusions on their applicability to our landscape andleading the way in selecting the right solutions
• Design and architect scalable, reusable solutions — producing model code andestablishing patterns for a broader developer community to follow
• Collaborate with business analysts to translate business requirements into system solutiondesigns that prioritise quality, re-usability, scalability, availability, and maintainability
• Define technical architecture across all phases of the solution development lifecycle —including modelling, design, development, system testing, and production support
• Present and communicate architectural ideas and designs to diverse stakeholders,facilitating effective review sessions and collaborative brainstorming
• Mentor and guide developers, ensuring code is developed in alignment with agreedarchitectural designs and best practices
• Provide hands‑on technical support to development teams, helping resolve complextechnical challenges and unblocking delivery
• Align solutions with Business Strategy and IT standards, ensuring every design decisionsupports long‑term organisational goals
