Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled HMI Developer with hands‑on experience in Android Automotive OS (AAOS) to design and develop highly customized, brand‑specific automotive user interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain customized HMI applications on Android Automotive OS (AAOS).
- Implement brand‑specific and highly configurable UI components using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Integrate UI from Kanzi, Qt, CGI (or similar tools) into the AAOS platform and apps.
- Integrate HMI layers with backend services and in‑vehicle systems using NATS (pub/sub, event‑driven messaging).
- Handle real‑time data updates and asynchronous communication via NATS.
- Work closely with UX/UI designers to translate design concepts into high‑quality implementations.
- Customize layouts, themes, animations, and transitions to meet OEM requirements.
- Optimize performance, boot time, memory usage, and UI responsiveness.
- Debug and resolve application, integration, and system‑level issues.
- Ensure compliance with automotive UX, safety, and driver distraction guidelines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in Android or automotive HMI development.
- Hands‑on experience in Kotlin and Android application development with Jetpack Compose.
- Proficiency in Java, C/C++, Android programming.
- Solid experience working on Android Automotive OS (AAOS).
- Practical experience with integration of UI from Kanzi, Qt, CGI (or similar tool) into AAOS.
- Experience using NATS communication protocol for real‑time messaging and data exchange.
- Strong understanding of Android lifecycle, threading, and performance optimization.
- Exposure to MVVM / MVI architecture patterns to build scalable, maintainable applications.
- Strong ability to translate UX designs from Figma (or similar tools) into production‑ready HMI screens, ensuring alignment with automotive UI/UX standards.
- Proficiency with debugging, CI/CD, and profiling tools (Android Studio, logcat, GIT, etc.).
- Good to have: experience with automotive infotainment (IVI) or cockpit systems; knowledge of Car UX Restrictions and driver safety compliance; experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs with efficient handling of real‑time data streams; familiarity with vehicle signals, VHAL, CAN, or automotive middleware.
