Job summary

Sitec Labs in Pune, a Cipla subsidiary, seeks an Animal House Veterinarian to lead the establishment of the animal care facility and support daily management, ensuring GLP compliance and animal welfare.

The candidate should have a veterinary degree, state registration, and 5–7 years of laboratory-animal experience, with focus on inbred strains and pharmaceutical/biotech settings. Location: Hadapsar, Pune; full-time, 6 days a week.

Qualifications

• Graduate or postgraduate degree in Veterinary sciences.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the initial set-up of the animal house facility and liaise with CCSEA during inspections.
• Manage contract employees and provide veterinary support for daily management of laboratory animal care, including breeding, maintenance, waste disposal, and ensuring good health of rodents, rabbits, and guinea pigs.
• Conduct the IQ, OQ and PQ of all instruments and ensure the GLP compliance.
• Perform the surgical procedures, cannulations, implantations required for preclinical and toxicology studies.
• Ensure quality standards for in-house breeding or procurement of animals.
• Perform regular health and genetic monitoring of animals.
• Train and supervise animal users in handling techniques, husbandry practice, anesthesia, and euthanasia, maintaining records as per CCSEA requirements.
• Participate in IAEC as a Veterinarian, advising on animal testing, keeping protocol records, and ensuring compliance.
• Manage SOPs, change control, calibration, and maintenance of equipment, instruments, and IT systems.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications and Skills

• Graduate or postgraduate degreein Veterinary sciences.
• Valid registrationissued by the State Veterinary Council or Veterinary Council of India.
• 5-7 years of experience in handling, breeding, and maintenanceof laboratory animals (mice, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, etc.), particularly inbred strains and support within the pharmaceutical, CRO, or biotechnology industry.
• Experience with transgenic/knockout animalsand research studies involving laboratory animals.
• Proficiency in health and genetic monitoring techniques.
• Knowledge of CCSEA guidelinesand experience in conducting institutional animal ethics committee meetings.
