Job summary

Sonata Software in Bangalore (Hybrid) seeks an Android Middleware SDET with 6–8 years of Android experience to validate AOSP customizations, ensure CTS/VTS/GTS compliance, and develop automation for platform- and device-level testing.

You will work on embedded Android devices, build custom automation frameworks, and help integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab CI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering or MSc in CS or equivalent.
• 6 to 8 years of Android/middleware testing experience.
• Hands-on CTS/VTS analysis and automation work.

Responsibilities

• Validate AOSP customizations on embedded target hardware.
• Develop automation tests for platform- and device-level testing.
• Triage CTS failures and coordinate with development teams to fix.
• Ensure CTS, VTS, and GTS compliance where applicable.
• Build scalable CI/CD pipelines for test execution on devices.
• Improve test coverage across functional, regression, and performance tests.

Primary Skills

• Experience testing embedded Android devices / handhelds / IoT devices with solid understanding of hardware-software interaction.
• Programming skills in C++, Java/Kotlin and/or Python.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Validation of AOSP customizations including framework, HAL in embedded target platform
• Develop automation testing for: Platform-level testing, device-level integration testing
• Analyze and triage CTS (Compatibility Test Suite) failures and work closely with development teams to resolve issues.
• Ensure compliance with CTS, VTS, and GTS requirements where applicable.
• Build scalable CI/CD pipelines for automated test execution on physical devices.
• Drive test coverage improvements, including functional, regression, performance, and stability testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Android system developers, firmware teams etc.,).
• Monitor & track quality metrics, release readiness, and risk assessments.
