Job summary

UST in Bengaluru is seeking a Lead Android Middleware SDET to drive testing strategy for customized Android devices. You will own end-to-end validation of AOSP customizations, including framework, HAL and system services, and lead a small QA/automation team.

Ideal candidates have 8–10 years of experience, deep Android internals knowledge, and strong Java/Kotlin or Python programming skills. The role requires collaboration with US teams on the night shifts and a hybrid work setup in Bengaluru.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of experience in Android testing and automation.
• Bachelor of Engineering/MCA or equivalent degree required.
• Strong Android internals/AOSP builds expertise and CTS/VTs familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Define and own end-to-end test strategy for customized Android devices.

• Triaging CTS failures and coordinating with Dev teams to fix issues.

• Understand the product/domain end to end, take ownership at AOSP layer, define and own the end-to-end test strategy for customized Android devices.
• Lead validation of AOSP customizations, including framework, HAL, and system services.
• Design and implement automation frameworks for: Platform-level testing, device-level integration testing
• Analyze and triage CTS (Compatibility Test Suite) failures and work closely with development teams to resolve issues.
• Ensure compliance with CTS, VTS, and GTS requirements where applicable.
• Build scalable CI/CD pipelines for automated test execution on physical devices.
• Drive test coverage improvements, including functional, regression, performance, and stability testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Android system developers, firmware teams etc.,).
• Mentor and lead small team of QA engineers and automation developers.
• Define and track quality metrics, release readiness, and risk assessments.
