Job summary

KBD Talent Forge India Pvt Ltd is seeking an experienced Android Audio Engineer to develop, customize, integrate, and optimize the Android Automotive OS (AAOS) Audio Framework for automotive IVI systems. The role requires hands-on expertise in Android Audio Framework, Audio HAL, Audio Policy, ALSA/TinyALSA, Embedded Linux, AAOS Audio, and experience with automotive platforms.

Qualifications

• 4 - 8 years of relevant experience in Android Audio, Embedded Audio, Automotive Audio, or AAOS.
• Strong understanding of Android Framework and Audio architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Audio HAL and Audio Policy.
• Good programming knowledge in C/C++ and Java/Kotlin.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, customize, and integrate the Android Audio Framework for AAOS-based IVI systems.
• Develop and integrate Audio HAL, Audio Policy Manager, and Audio Control HAL.
• Customize and debug AudioFlinger, AudioPolicyService, and Android Audio Services.
• Work on CarAudioService, audio routing, volume groups, audio focus, and multi-zone audio.
• Implement, integrate, and optimize automotive audio features such as Media Playback, Bluetooth Audio (A2DP/HFP), USB Audio, FM/AM Radio, Navigation Prompts, Voice Assistant, Audio Mixing, and Audio Ducking.
• Develop and customize Audio HAL interfaces using AIDL/HIDL.
• Integrate DSP and external amplifiers with the Android Audio Framework.
• Configure, debug, and optimize ALSA/TinyALSA components.
• Analyze and resolve audio latency, synchronization, glitches, distortion, and audio-quality issues.
• Debug audio issues using Logcat, dumpsys media.audio, TinyALSA utilities, Systrace, Perfetto, and kernel logs.
• Perform detailed root-cause analysis (RCA) for application, framework, HAL, and production issues.
• Support system integration, testing, validation, and customer deliveries.
• Work closely with BSP, Middleware, HMI, Bluetooth, Vehicle HAL, and System teams.
• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, debugging activities, and software release processes.

We are looking for an experienced Android Audio Engineer to develop, customize, integrate, and optimize the Android Automotive OS (AAOS) Audio Framework for automotive In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) systems. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in Android Audio Framework, Audio HAL, Audio Policy, ALSA/TinyALSA, Embedded Linux, and AAOS Audio. Experience working with Qualcomm, MediaTek, or NXP automotive platforms will be highly preferred.

Preferred Experience

• Candidates with hands-on experience in AAOS/AOSP Audio, CarAudioService, Audio HAL, AudioFlinger, AudioPolicyManager, VHAL integration, DSP, ALSA/TinyALSA, and Qualcomm/MediaTek/NXP automotive platforms will be preferred.
