Job description

We are seeking a Research & Analytics Manager to lead and scale our Mumbai-based Business Information & Analytics (BIA) team supporting a leading global investment bank.

This individual will oversee Financial Analysis and Research teams delivering high-quality, time-sensitive analytics and content directly to investment banking professionals. The role requires direct engagement with bankers, strong operational leadership, and the ability to elevate a newly established Center of Excellence (CoE) to global standards.

Beyond delivery oversight, the role is expected to drive continuous improvement in workflows, enhance how banker requests are executed, and identify opportunities to increase efficiency, scalability, and impact across the BIA function.

The Manager will operate in close partnership with both the client and BIA global leadership, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Global Director and will play a critical role in shaping delivery quality, team capability, and workflow efficiency from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client Engagement & Delivery Oversight

• Act as a primary point of contact for banker clients, engaging directly to understand needs, clarify requirements, and ensure high-quality outcomes
• Oversee delivery of financial analysis and research outputs, including company profiles, comparables, precedent transactions, benchmarking, and industry analysis
• Ensure all deliverables meet high standards of accuracy, clarity, and timeliness, with full ownership of output quality
• Provide quality control (QC) across team outputs, ensuring consistency and alignment with client expectations
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve delivery approaches, challenge assumptions, and recommend more efficient or effective solutions
• Engage with banker clients not only to execute requests, but to refine scope, challenge inefficient approaches, and improve how work is structured and delivered
• Identify patterns in banker requests and proactively recommend more efficient, scalable, or value-added approaches to recurring work
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of analysts and researchers, building a high-performing, accountable culture
• Provide structured training and ongoing feedback to elevate technical capability, communication skills, and client-readiness
• Allocate work effectively based on team strengths, workload, and priorities
• Support hiring and onboarding to build and scale the Mumbai team in line with evolving needs

3. Operational & Quality Management

• Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring work is prioritized, tracked, and delivered efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Establish and enforce best practices, standard operating procedures, and quality benchmarks
• Dynamically manage competing priorities and reallocate resources to meet client deadlines
• Proactively identify and resolve issues impacting delivery, team performance, or client satisfaction
• Continuously evaluate workflows and processes to identify bottlenecks, eliminate inefficiencies, and improve turnaround time and output quality

4. Center of Excellence (CoE) Development & Continuous Improvement

• Partner with global leadership and the client to build and elevate the Mumbai team to a best-in-class Center of Excellence
• Drive continuous improvement in workflows, output quality, and team capabilities
• Identify and implement opportunities to enhance efficiency, including automation and AI-enabled workflows where appropriate
• Act as a bridge between client expectations and offshore execution, ensuring alignment and continuous progress
• Take ownership of evolving the operating model of the Mumbai team, ensuring it scales effectively while maintaining quality, responsiveness, and alignment with global standards
• Drive adoption of standardized processes, automation, and AI-enabled workflows to improve productivity, consistency, and scalability

Candidate Profile

Experience & Background

• 10–15 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, research, or investment banking support environments
• Demonstrated experience managing teams and overseeing delivery in a client-facing context
• Strong exposure to investment banking workflows, including valuation methodologies and financial analysis
• Experience working with global clients or in offshore delivery models preferred
• MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Finance or related field preferred; candidates from top-tier institutions or with CFA qualifications are a plus
• Client-facing communication: Able to confidently engage with bankers, articulate ideas clearly, and build credibility
• Independent thinking: Comfortable challenging assumptions and proposing better approaches - not an order-taker
• Operational leadership: Strong ability to prioritize, manage workflows, and ensure consistent delivery under pressure
