Job summary

Revantage in Bengaluru is seeking an entry-level Functional Construction Accountant to support posting project costs, budgets, commitments, invoices, and capitalization activities. This role requires basic accounting fundamentals and attention to detail while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

You will work with the job cost system, ensure proper coding across jobs and departments, and assist with month-end close and report distribution.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate accounting records for construction, development, and capital projects through data entry of budgets, commitments, costs, and contracts.
• Code and allocate costs to correct jobs, entities, and cost categories.
• Post payments and review supporting documents (invoices, draws, waivers) for timely processing.
• Monitor construction-in-progress accounts and support capitalization and fixed asset setup.
• Contribute to month-end, quarterly, and year-end close of entry-level construction properties, including depreciation updates.
• Post journal entries (leasing commissions, capital project expenses, in-service accruals) and prepare reports.

Summary

Summary: The Functional Construction Accountant primarily provides accounting data entry support services relating to the company’s routine job cost transactions. This role ensures the accurate posting of project costs, commitments, contracts, invoices, draws, and capitalization activity. The ideal candidate brings basic accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring accurate accounting records for construction, development, and capital projects, including the data entry of project budgets, commitments, actual costs, change orders, and contract balances in the job cost system.
• Ensure project costs are properly coded, recorded, and allocated to the correct jobs, entities, cost categories and phases.
• Posting payment draws in the job cost system and reviewing the accuracy of supporting documentation for invoices, payment applications, waivers and other support presented for timely third-party payment.
• Monitor construction-in-progress accounts, support capitalization and fixed asset setup upon project completion and placed into service.
• Responsible for the monthly, quarterly and year-end general ledger close of entry level construction accounting properties (level 1 books), booking depreciation and updating reimbursable fixed assets schedules.
• Posting journal entries, such as leasing commissions, capital project expenses, asset completion and in-service accruals.
• Weekly and monthly report distribution of commitment reports, Job Cost query, roll forward reimbursable depreciation schedules, and others as needed.

Required Experience

• Education Accounting degree consistent with local market expectations for role.
• Accounting certifications consistent with local market expectations for role.
• Experience 2-3 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Familiarity with construction draws, pay applications, retainage, and change order tracking is preferred.
• Experience with job costing, capital projects, budget tracking, invoice processing, and reconciliations is preferred.
• Experience in a GCC (Global Capability Center), shared services, or BPO environment supporting a US-based team is strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

• Financial Analysis: Ability to analyze, interpret and communicate project financial data
• Knowledge of Department Policies, Processes and Procedures
• Software Tools & Applications: MS Office Excel Proficiency, including excel skills, and familiar job costing accounting systems is preferred.
