Job summary

Cbts is seeking an experienced Firewall Engineer to design, implement, and maintain firewall architectures across our networks. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, review rules, and stay ahead of threats to safeguard infrastructure.

With 5–10 years in IT as a Firewall Engineer, you will develop documentation, policies, and best practices, while guiding vendor evaluations and deployments of firewalls, VPNs, and MFA-enabled access controls.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years IT firewall engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Expert in Firewall/LAN/WAN technologies and architecture.

Role Description

As a Firewall Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining firewall solutions to ensure the security of our organization's networks and systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess security risks, develop firewall architectures, and monitor firewall performance. Your expertise in firewall technologies, network security, and best practices will play a critical role in safeguarding our infrastructure and data.

Key Responsibilities:

• 1. Designing, implementing and maintaining firewall architecture and configurations


• 2. Ensure effective integration of firewall in network infrastructure and conduct firewall rule reviews


• 3. Stay updated on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends related to firewall technologies and make recommendations for improvements.


• 4. Design and develop firewall architecture and configurations to meet security requirements and best practices.


• 5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement firewall-related policies and procedures.


• 6. Develop and maintain documentation, including firewall policies, standards, and configuration guidelines.


• 7. Provide guidance and support in the evaluation and selection of firewall solutions and vendors.


• 8. Conduct firewall rule reviews and audits to ensure adherence to security policies and regulatory requirements.


• 9. Participate in network infrastructure planning and design to ensure effective integration of firewalls.


• 10. Collaborate with network and security teams to plan and implement firewall changes, upgrades, and migrations.


• 11. Assist in capacity planning exercises to ensure optimal performance and scalability of firewall solutions.


• 12. Provide expert-level support for firewall technologies, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.


• 13. Monitor firewall logs and alerts and perform incident response to detect and mitigate security threats.


• 14. Collaborate with security operations teams to investigate and resolve firewall- related security incidents. Optimize firewall performance and rule sets by analyzing traffic patterns, conducting rule reviews, and implementing best practice


• 15. Perform validation of the load balancer to verify that it meets the requirements


• 16. Perform validation of the firewall rules to verify that it meets the requirements


• 17. Configure VPN tunnel for MFA implementation


• 18. Implement VPN tunnel to allow access to specific services through MFA


• 19. Validate implementation VPN tunnels for MFA


• 20. Provision user accounts for F5 MFA for infrastructure access


• 21. Evaluating the security stance local and wide area networks


• 22. Implementing security measures and technologies for the protection of information resources and customer data


• 23. Recommending solutions regarding issues of data level security in support of customers business objectives


• 24. Reviewing and implementing changes to access control lists on firewalls

Looking for a self-starter with at least 5 - 10 years of experience in IT as a Firewall Engineer.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

Expert in Firewall/LAN/WAN technologies and architecture, hardware, software, and routing.

Required firewall experience in Palo Alto (Panorama, Prisma), Checkpoint, Cisco. VPNs and load balancers (including F5).

Knowledge of data security practices and procedures.
