Job summary

VML Enterprise Solutions, part of WPP, designs, builds, and operates growth systems powering client transformation and marketing modernization. The team emphasizes engineering across front-end and back-end, API-first development, and robust data integration to enable scalable, reliable solutions.

You will work with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Python/Java, REST APIs, and data pipelines, collaborating with a global team to solve complex problems and deliver measurable business impact.

Qualifications

• Front-end engineering with HTML5, CSS3, JS ES6+.
• Back-end development with Java/Spring, Python, Node.js, or .NET/C#.
• API-first design and integration of REST APIs and webhooks.
• Proficient in SQL and scripting (Python/JS) for data tasks.
• Experience with major databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Experience building ETL pipelines and data integration across systems.
• Knowledge of relational data modelling and query optimization.
• Demonstrated learning agility to adapt to a new marketing platform.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills across UI, services, and data layers.

The opportunity

Must-Have Skills

• Front-end engineering: Strong hands-on experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript ES6+, and at least one modern framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.js. Working knowledge of TypeScript, responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and templating is a plus.
• Back-end engineering: Solid server-side development experience in one or more technologies such as Java with Spring or Spring Boot, Python with Django, Flask, or FastAPI, Node.js with Express, or .NET/C#. Experience should include building, securing, and consuming services.
• API-first development: Hands-on experience designing and integrating REST APIs and webhooks, working with JSON or XML payloads, using token-based or OAuth authentication, and validating APIs with tools such as Postman, Insomnia, or Swagger.
• SQL, scripting, and automation: Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language, preferably Python or JavaScript, for data manipulation, transformation, automation, and troubleshooting.
• Database expertise: Strong command of at least one major database platform such as SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or a similar system, including writing and optimizing complex queries.
• ETL and data integration: Practical experience building extract, transform, and load pipelines and integrating data across multiple source and target systems.
• Data modelling: Ability to design and work with relational and marketing data models, including querying datasets, creating joins and aggregates, applying filters, defining keys, and setting indexes.
• Learning agility: Demonstrated ability and eagerness to quickly learn, adapt, and become productive on a new enterprise marketing platform.
• Problem solving: Strong analytical and debugging skills with a structured approach to troubleshooting across user interface, services, integration, and data layers.
