Job summary

CIT seeks an AI Literacy Programmer for the First-Year Cohort to design and continually improve the AI Foundations curriculum across departments. You will ensure core concepts, assessments, projects, and certifications establish AI fluency as a graduation baseline.

Collaborating with department heads, you will co-design AI-augmented modules and track progress across curricula, aligning with AICTE, NBA, NAAC standards and industry practices for higher education.

Role & responsibilities

. AI Literacy Programmer First-Year Cohort

Design, own, and continuously improve the AI Foundations curriculum delivered to all first-year students across all departments.

Ensure the programme covers core concepts including structured assessments, projects, and certifications that validate AI fluency as a graduation baseline.

Leverage active learning methodologies workshops, hackathons, case studies to make AI education practical and engaging.

2. Curriculum Integration Cross-Departmental

Partner with Heads of Departments (Civil, Mechanical, ECE, CSE, MBA, MCA, etc.) to map AI integration opportunities within existing syllabi.

Co-design AI-augmented course modules that are contextual and discipline-relevant — e.g., Power systems with ML, CNNs on edge, sensor analytics, etc.

Track curriculum coverage and produce semester reports on AI integration status across departments.

Align curriculum with AICTE, NBA, NAAC, and emerging industry standards for AI in higher education.

3. Faculty Coaching & Professional Development

Design and deliver tiered training programmes — foundational, intermediate, and advanced — to upskill faculty in AI tools, pedagogy, and course design.

Provide one-on-one coaching to faculty members integrating AI into their courses, helping them redesign assessments, syllabi, and delivery methods.

Organise Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), workshops, and seminars with internal and external AI experts.

Build and sustain a CIT AI Faculty Community of Practice for peer learning and resource sharing.

4. Strategy, Governance & Partnerships

Contribute to CIT's institutional AI strategy, roadmap, and policy framework in collaboration with senior leadership.

Develop and recommend guidelines for the ethical and responsible use of AI tools by students and faculty.

Build partnerships with AI companies (e.g., Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Anthropic) and other institutions for tools, resources, research and joint initiatives.

Represent CIT at national and international conferences, symposia, and working groups on AI in higher education.

Monitor global trends in AI-in-education and regularly brief the leadership team on emerging opportunities and risks.

5. Measurement & Continuous Improvement

Establish KPIs and a measurement framework for AI literacy outcomes, faculty capability growth, and curriculum integration depth.

Publish an annual CIT AI Transformation Report tracking progress against institutional goals.

Benchmark CIT's AI education approach against leading institutions nationally and globally.

Preferred candidate profile

Minimum 10 years industry experience working in Technology or Product companies

Deep technology expertise, particularly in leveraging AI/ML and generative AI to build solutions for business problems.

Ability to champion AI transformation at CIT, creating roadmap aligning AI initiatives with university strategic goals focusing on academic excellence required for the AI era.

Interest in academia with experience conducting training programs and workshops in corporate or academic settings.

Strong understanding of pedagogy, learning outcomes, and assessment design.

Ability to work with interdisciplinary experts for designing academic courses aligned to industry needs.

Experience in designing or leading institution-wide transformation initiatives in the education sector.

Familiarity with AICTE, NAAC, or NBA frameworks and their implications for curriculum.

Certifications in AI (e.g., Google AI, DeepLearning.AI, Microsoft AI), instructional design, or educational leadership.

Published work or contributions to AI in education discourse — research papers, blog posts, conference presentations.

Existing network within the Tamil Nadu / national higher education or EdTech ecosystem.
