Job summary

Jabil Pune invites an AI Engineer to build and maintain GenAI, ML, and predictive analytics solutions that improve quality, yield, and operational efficiency on the shop floor, under senior engineers and site leadership.

You will develop data pipelines and MLOps workflows, integrate AI models with MES and related platforms, document processes, and collaborate with analysts, PMs, and developers to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Role Summary

Jabil Pune's Automation/ Digital Factory team is looking for an AI Engineer to build and maintain AI/ML and Generative AI solutions that support local manufacturing operations. This role works under the guidance of senior engineers and the Pune site leadership to develop predictive models, GenAI applications, and data pipelines that improve quality, yield, and operational efficiency at the Pune site, while aligning approach and standards with the broader South Asia Digital Factory / AI program.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain GenAI applications (chatbots, copilots, RAG pipelines) for internal business and factory use cases.
• Build, train, and validate predictive/ML models for quality, yield, and predictive maintenance analytics.
• Support data pipeline development and MLOps workflows: data ingestion, feature engineering, model deployment.
• Assist in integrating AI models into existing factory systems (MES, MNS, PTT and related platforms).
• Write clean, tested, and documented code following software engineering best practices.
• Monitor deployed models for performance drift and support retraining cycles.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Project Managers, and software developers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Support experimentation, prototyping, and proof-of-concept (PoC) development for new AI use cases.
• Document processes, model cards, and technical specifications.
• Keep working practices aligned with South Asia Digital Factory / AI program standards and reusable components.

Required Skills & Tools

• Programming: Python (required), SQL; basic Java/C# familiarity a plus.
• Version Control & IDE: Git, GitHub, and VS Code for source control, code review, and collaborative development.
• GenAI/LLM: Exposure to OpenAI/Azure OpenAI APIs, Ollama for running local/open-source LLMs, LangChain or LlamaIndex, prompt engineering, vector databases (Pinecone, Chroma, FAISS), and AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, or Kiro).
• MLOps Basics: Docker, exposure to CI/CD, MLflow or similar experiment tracking tools.
• Cloud & Data Platforms: Working exposure to Azure, AWS, or GCP (Azure preferred), and Snowflake for data warehousing.
• Data Handling: Pandas, NumPy, basic ETL/data engineering concepts.
• Integration: Familiarity with REST APIs and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Jabil Compliance Tools: Awareness of Jabil's internal AI governance/compliance platform (AgentCore) is a plus; willingness to learn internal tooling required.

Knowledge & Domain Understanding

• Fundamentals of statistics and machine learning.
• Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile delivery.
• Exposure to manufacturing or electronics industry data is an advantage.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in AI/ML engineering or software development with AI exposure.li>
