Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking an AI Linguistic Evaluator based in India to help evaluate and improve AI Tamil-language performance. You will interact with AI systems, assess quality, and provide structured feedback according to project standards.

You will translate prompts from English into Tamil, evaluate localization for naturalness, and work independently on a short-term engagement with flexible remote hours.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a AI Linguistic Evaluator based in India.

This is a flexible, remote opportunity for a language professional to help evaluate and improve the performance of AI applications in Tamil. You will interact directly with AI systems, assess the quality and accuracy of their responses, and provide structured feedback based on defined project standards. The role combines linguistic expertise with cultural awareness to ensure AI-generated content feels natural, relevant, and appropriate for Tamil-speaking users. You will also translate prompts from English into Tamil and evaluate how effectively the AI responds in the target language. The project is well suited to professionals with backgrounds in linguistics, translation, localization, or other language-focused disciplines. It offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of next-generation AI systems while working independently on a short-term engagement.

Accountabilities

• Interact with an AI assistant in Tamil and evaluate how effectively it understands and responds to prompts in the target language.

• Translate provided prompts from English into Tamil accurately while preserving the intended meaning, context, and linguistic nuances.

• Assess AI-generated responses against established project guidelines, quality standards, and evaluation criteria.

• Evaluate localization quality by reviewing linguistic accuracy, naturalness, fluency, cultural relevance, and appropriateness for Tamil-speaking audiences.

• Identify linguistic or contextual issues in AI-generated content and provide clear, structured, and objective feedback.

• Apply detailed evaluation guidelines consistently across tasks to ensure reliable and high-quality assessments.

• Work independently to complete assigned evaluations accurately and within the expected project timelines.

Requirements:

• Demonstrate native-level fluency in Tamil as used in India, with an excellent understanding of grammar, spelling, linguistic nuances, and cultural context.

• Have strong English skills and the ability to accurately translate prompts from English into Tamil while maintaining meaning and intent.

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation, Languages, Philology, Literature, or a related field with at least one year of relevant professional experience, or have a minimum of five years of professional experience in language-related work.

• Bring strong attention to detail and the ability to identify subtle issues in language quality, localization, tone, and cultural relevance.

• Be comfortable evaluating AI-generated content independently and providing consistent, objective assessments based on defined criteria.

• Demonstrate the ability to follow detailed project instructions and apply structured quality standards consistently.

• Be self-directed, reliable, and capable of delivering accurate work with minimal supervision.

• Have access to at least one personal device running iOS, Android, Windows, or macOS.
