Job summary

ORION SYSTEMS seeks an experienced frontend engineer with 5–12 years of experience to design and implement responsive, mobile-first interfaces. You will work across JAM stack architectures, leveraging HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6) with a strong focus on performance and accessibility.

Ideal candidates will be familiar with design systems, modern tooling (Webpack, Babel, NPM), and RESTful/GraphQL APIs, and have experience with design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma or Sketch.

Qualifications

• Expertise in responsive design and mobile-first applications.
• Strong JavaScript knowledge including DOM and ES6.
• Experience with JAMstack architectures.
• Familiar with RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Knowledge of WCAG accessibility guidelines.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Experience with design tools like Adobe XD, Figma, or Sketch.
• Familiarity with design systems and pattern libraries.

Role & responsibilities

• Expertise in responsive design and mobile first application design.
• Familiarity in Adobe XD, or other design tools such as Sketch or Figma.
• Expertise in Design systems, Style guides, Pattern libraries
• Expertise in front-end development, especially JAM stack
• In depth knowledge in HTML5, CSS3, knowledge of BEM methodology is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model.
• Detailed knowledge of JavaScript(ES6).
• Experience with Atomic design paradigm is a plus.
• Familiarity with RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Understanding of Web Accessibility WCAG guidelines.
• Understanding of information architecture and creating appropriate content structuring
• Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools.
• Familiarity with code versioning tools such as Git.
• Deep understanding of core web vitals, web performance optimization techniques and best practices.
• A knack for benchmarking and optimization, familiarity with finding performance insights using browser dev tool.
• Familiarity with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc.
• Familiarity with Micro Front End concepts and Headless Implementation would be a plus.

• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
• Familiarity with any known CMS with functional knowledge of template editor and content author roles.
• Understanding of content authoring and ensuring usability and intuitiveness for a content author while using a CMS.
