Accounting Operations Analyst / Senior Analyst Shared Services Centre
Position Summary:
The Accounting Operations Analyst / Senior Analyst is a member of the Offshore operations team that provides the human operations layer around an automation-enabled Shared Services Centre (SSC). The role executes, validates, and supports standardized back-office accounting, reporting, and compliance administration processes, with targeted support to Asset Management. Working across the accounting, ERP/general ledger, entity management, billing, asset management, and data platform systems, the role completes manual system steps, resolves defined exceptions, performs reconciliations, and maintains the evidence that demonstrates controls are operating. The role works within documented procedures, controlled system access, and clear escalation routes, preparing complete and accurate outputs for review by SSC leadership and subject‑matter experts, who retain judgment, approval, and control ownership. The role also identifies recurring exceptions, so they can be designed through automation rather than permanent manual work.
Essential Functions:
- Set up and maintain master data in the accounting system, including new deal pursuits, cost centers, portfolio costs, billing entities, fund allocations, and bank account GL codes, reconciliation owners, accountant assignments, and booking rules (including tax booking rules).
- Complete accounting set-up for newly activated entities in the ERP/general ledger, including ledger assignments and notifying the system support team of revaluation rule requirements.
- Perform recurring reconciliations and tie‑outs — including deal pipeline to accounting system pursuits, deal status changes from the asset management system, and billing system to accounting system fund rebills — identify and resolve gaps within procedure, push reconciled items to the ledger, and track omissions.
- Prepare standard and recurring journals, accruals, and invoices, and produce reviewed upload files and reconciliations for SSC approval.
- Execute and monitor scheduled ERP/general ledger processes, including consolidation, revaluation, and mass allocations (minority interest, finance cost amortization), and support income roll and quarterly shareholder reporting for offshore entities.
- Monitor daily reports and the GL interface (e.g., fund/deal reconciliation, no‑ownership report, revaluation journals for LOC and LOC payments), and resolve defined errors such as missing cost centers or allocations on end‑dated entities.
- Maintain the asset register system, including adding new assets and updating status upon disposition, and maintain invoice processing workflows, invoice‑paying entity flags, and delegations in the accounting and invoice workflow systems.
- Operate data and document intake — mailbox monitoring, file classification, submission tracking, and missing‑information follow‑up — including organizing portfolio manager trial balances from the document repository into ingestion‑ready formats for the data platform.
- Monitor automated agent runs, triage failures, validate agent‑prepared outputs against supporting documentation, and maintain work queues and control evidence.
- Support reporting and compliance administration by refreshing reports, rolling forward workpapers, updating trackers and compliance calendars, populating templates, and assembling draft reporting packs and filing support packages for SME review.
- Stop and escalation to the SSC team when the procedure does not cover the facts, an item exceeds materiality or tolerance, a control fails, an outcome is challenged, or approval or professional judgment is required.
- Identify and log recurring exceptions and process issues for the automation backlog, maintain desk procedures, and consistently meet agreed SLAs for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Solid understanding of core accounting concepts, including the general ledger, journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, allocations, consolidation, and foreign currency revaluation.
- Hands‑on experience with ERP and general ledger systems, preferably Oracle, and the ability to quickly learn proprietary and workflow systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, reconciliation workbooks) and comfort working with large, structured datasets.
- Strong controls mindset — follows documented procedures precisely, maintains audit‑ready evidence, and respects segregation of duties and restricted system access.
- Sound judgment in recognizing when an item falls outside procedure or tolerance and must be escalated rather than resolved.
- High attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate work against daily, month‑end, and quarter‑end deadlines.
- Clear written English communication, with the ability to document exceptions and status concisely for the SSC team.
- Comfort working alongside automated and AI‑driven workflows — validating outputs, triaging failures, and documenting issues.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, CMA, ACCA, CPA), or progress toward one, is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 2–4 years (Analyst) or 4–6 years (Senior Analyst) of experience in accounting operations, record‑to‑report, fund or entity accounting, or a related finance function.
- Demonstrated experience performing account reconciliations, standard journals, and month‑end and quarter‑end close activities.
- Experience maintaining finance master data (entities, cost centers, GL codes, bank accounts, workflows) in an ERP environment.
- Experience in a shared services, global capability center, or outsourced finance operations environment supporting US, UK, or global stakeholders is preferred.
- Exposure to tax or compliance administration, such as document collection and filing support, is a plus.
- Experience in financial services, private equity, real estate, fund administration, or asset management is preferred but not required.
Other Skills:
- Familiarity with Palantir Foundry or similar data and workflow platforms, or with RPA and automation tools, is a plus.
- Working knowledge of document management systems and practices.
- Familiarity with data visualization or query tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or SQL is a plus.
- Ability to write and maintain clear standard operating procedures and desk notes.
Work Environment:
- This position operates in a professional office setting and requires partial overlap with US and/or European business hours, with extended hours during month‑end, quarter‑end, and reporting cycles. This is a contract role; no travel is required.
Desired Competencies:
- Communication Skills - Conveys information in writing with clarity and focus, including clear documentation of exceptions and status.
- Accountability - Takes ownership of assigned tasks, ensuring accurate and timely delivery against SLAs.
- Critical Thinking / Judgment - Applies procedures consistently and recognizes when an item requires escalation.
- Adaptability - Adapts to changing volumes, priorities, and evolving automated workflows.
- Teamwork - Works collaboratively within the Offshore operations team and with the SSC team.
