Job summary

Swiss Re, Bengaluru-based, is seeking an Accountant III to join the IGR Validation and Adjustments team. You will validate IFRS 17 accounting, support closures, and drive improvements in finance processes within a globally connected environment.

The role emphasizes data quality, governance, and audit readiness, collaborating with Finance, Reporting, Operations, and Technology to resolve issues and deliver high-quality financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of financial reporting processes and IFRS/GAAP frameworks.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• CA / Semi-Qualified CA, CFA, MBA (Finance) or Master’s degree in Finance.
• 7-9 years of experience in GAAP and/or IFRS financial reporting (insurance/reinsurance/global finance ideal).

Responsibilities

• Perform IFRS 17 reporting validations and analysis ensuring accuracy across reporting cycles.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for timely reporting.
• Investigate and resolve reporting issues, variances, and stakeholder queries.

• Drive automation, simplification, and process improvement initiatives.

As an Accountant III in the IGR Validation and Adjustments team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial results within a dynamic global finance environment. You will support IFRS 17 accounting and reconciliation activities, drive resolution of complex reporting issues, and contribute to meaningful process improvement and finance transformation initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Perform IFRS 17 reporting validations and analysis, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial results across reporting cycles
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, contributing to timely and reliable financial reporting
• Investigate and resolve reporting issues, variances, and stakeholder queries, delivering clear and well-reasoned solutions
• Collaborate with local and global stakeholders across Finance, Reporting, Operations, and Technology to ensure timely issue resolution
• Drive automation, simplification, and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and control across assigned processes
• Support finance transformation and change initiatives, contributing to the evolution of reporting frameworks and tools
• Ensure data quality, governance, and audit readiness across all assigned processes and deliverables

About the Team

The IGR (Intra Group Retrocession) team is a key part of GFO&T, supporting quarterly valuation and closing activities across IFRS 17, US GAAP, and Statutory reporting. We ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial results through validation, contract management, investigation of exceptions, and coordination of adjustment activities across business functions. As a globally connected team, we partner closely with Finance, Reporting, Operations, and Technology teams to strengthen controls, drive process improvements, and deliver high-quality financial reporting. About You

You are a detail-oriented finance professional who brings both technical depth and a collaborative mindset to everything you do. We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

• Strong understanding of financial reporting processes and IFRS/GAAP frameworks, including reporting controls, close activities, and financial statement analysis
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access, with the ability to analyze and process large volumes of financial data efficiently
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance attention to detail with a broader business perspective and communicate complex financial topics effectively
• CA / Semi-Qualified CA, CFA, MBA (Finance), or Master's degree in Finance or a related discipline
• 7-9 years of experience in GAAP and/or IFRS financial reporting, ideally within insurance, reinsurance, or a global finance environment

These are additional nice to haves:

• Understanding of insurance accounting, financial statements, and reinsurance industry dynamics
• Familiarity with income statement, balance sheet, and source of earnings concepts
• Working knowledge of Stargate or other AI-related tools
• Experience with group consolidation processes
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across geographies
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a global, matrixed environment
• Adaptability, resilience, and confidence when engaging with senior stakeholdersTeam-oriented mindset with a genuine commitment to continuous improvement and learning
