Job summary

ESAG in Chennai is seeking an Accountant to maintain accurate financial records and support day-to-day accounting operations. The role covers general ledger entries, reconciliations, payables and receivables, month-end closing, VAT and Excise Tax compliance, and IFRS compliance as per UAE regulations and company policies.

The candidate will post payments in SAP FI, reconcile customer accounts, manage PDCs, and prepare weekly collection reports while working under the line manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• Minimum 35 years accounting experience.
• Hands-on experience with SAP (FI module) and advanced MS Excel.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Post daily customer payments and collections in SAP and ensure accurate application to customer accounts.
• Reconcile customer ledgers and monthly statements; resolve discrepancies and follow up on short payments and deductions.
• Maintain and track post-dated cheques (PDCs) and cash ledger; monitor deposit scheduling and clearing.
• Perform bank reconciliations and assist in GL reconciliations; maintain accurate payment records.
• Prepare and share the weekly collection report and carry out other duties as assigned.

Role & responsibilities

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the entity. The role covers general ledger entries, reconciliations, payables and receivables, month-end closing, VAT and Excise Tax compliance, and the preparation of timely financial reports, ensuring compliance with IFRS, UAE regulations and company policies.

Job Responsibilities :

1.Collections & Cash Application

• Post daily customer incoming payments and collections in SAP.
• Match all invoices with collections to ensure accurate application to customer accounts.
• Allocate and clear (knock off) all on-account entries before month-end.

2. Customer Account Reconciliation

• Reconcile customer ledgers to ensure all payments are fully accounted for and correctly posted.
• Reconcile monthly with customers to ensure no unreconciled payments remain.
• Follow up with customers to resolve discrepancies, short payments and deductions.
• Send customer statements of account in line with company policy.

3. PDC & Cash Ledger Management

• Maintain and track post-dated cheques (PDCs), including deposit scheduling and follow-up.
• Post and clear the cash ledger account.

4. Bank & GL Reconciliation

• Perform bank reconciliations and assist in required GL reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate entity payment and ledger records.

5. Reporting & Other Duties

• Prepare and share the weekly collection report.
• Carry out other duties assigned by the line manager as and when required.
