Role Description

The Academic Counselor (Study Abroad) role at Global Study Link is an on-site position based in Kochi. The counselor will guide prospective students through the entire study-abroad journey, including understanding their academic background, interests, and financial capacity, and advising on suitable countries, universities, and programs. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting counseling sessions, explaining admission requirements, assisting with applications and documentation, and coordinating with university representatives. The role also involves organizing and participating in workshops, seminars, and information sessions, maintaining accurate student records, and providing timely updates on application status. The counselor will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth and professional experience for students and their families.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Student Counseling and Academic Advising skills to support learners in choosing appropriate study-abroad pathways.
• Candidates should demonstrate excellent Communication skills, including clear spoken and written communication and active listening.
• Candidates should have Career Counseling abilities to help students connect academic choices with long-term career goals.
• Candidates should have a solid understanding of Education systems and international higher education trends.
• Relevant bachelor’s degree (e.g., Education, Psychology, Counseling, or related field); prior experience in study-abroad counseling or educational consultancy is highly beneficial.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, attention to detail, and comfort working with digital tools and CRM systems.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations in a non-discriminatory, inclusive, and ethical manner.
• Knowledge of major study destinations (e.g., USA, UK, Australia) and their admission processes, scholarships, and visa guidelines is an advantage.
