Detailed Job Description

As a 4G/5G RAN Protocol Testing Engineer supporting advanced wireless development in Bangalore via L&T Technology Services, you will take full technical ownership of testing, debugging, and code-level verification across RAN protocol layers. Your day-to-day responsibilities include validating L1/PHY channels (PUSCH, PUCCH, PDSCH, PDCCH, PRACH, HARQ, MIMO), L2 MAC/RLC/PDCP and schedulers, and L3 RRC, NGAP, S1AP, and X2AP mobility procedures. You will perform feature, functional, and regression testing, execute deep protocol log analysis, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and write automation scripts using C, C++ or Python. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with software development squads, systems architects, and global client stakeholders to resolve complex protocol anomalies.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute rigorous protocol testing, validation, and debugging for 4G LTE and 5G NR RAN systems across L1, L2, and L3 layers.
• Test physical layer (L1/PHY) channels including PUSCH, PUCCH, PDSCH, PDCCH, PRACH, HARQ, and MIMO algorithms.
• Validate data link layer (L2) MAC, RLC, PDCP, packet schedulers, RACH procedures, and throughput metrics.
• Test network layer (L3) protocols including RRC, NGAP, S1AP, X2AP, mobility management, and handover procedures.
• Perform comprehensive gNB, eNB, CU, DU, and O-RAN system integration and testing.
• Conduct protocol log analysis, trace debugging, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on complex software faults.
• Develop and maintain automation test scripts using C, C++ and Python to accelerate regression testing.
• Ensure complete alignment and compliance with 3GPP technical specifications and telecom release standards.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 3 to 7+ years of professional telecommunications experience specializing in 4G/5G RAN protocol testing and development.
• Solid hands-on expertise across L1/PHY, L2 (MAC/RLC/PDCP), or L3 (RRC/NAS/NGAP) protocol layers.
• Proven practical experience with gNB, eNB, CU, DU, or O-RAN testing environments and tools.
• Strong programming and scripting knowledge in C, C++, Python, and test automation frameworks.
• Deep understanding of 3GPP specifications, cellular air interface protocols, and signaling flows.
• Strong troubleshooting background with proven ability to analyze protocol logs, debug code, and perform RCA.
• Mandatory legal eligibility to work in India with local presence in Bangalore or immediate availability.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Professional certifications in 5G network architecture or wireless communications.
• Prior professional experience working within tier-1 telecom equipment vendors, chipset manufacturers, or R&D centers.
