Job summary

Tag is seeking a skilled 2D & 3D Compositing Artist to join our creative production team in Bengaluru. You will bring together live‑action footage, CG, VFX, and motion graphics to deliver seamless final composites across advertising, digital campaigns, broadcast, OTT, cinema, and branded content.

Required: a strong eye for detail, the ability to work across creative and technical challenges, and 3–15 years of experience with a robust portfolio. Freshers with strong skills are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Create high‑quality 2D composites using multiple layers and passes, integrating live‑action with CG, VFX, and design elements.
• Integrate 3D renders and CG elements into live‑action plates, using multi‑pass workflows and AOVs.
• Perform tracking, roto mattes, and advanced edge work to support complex shots.
• Match color, exposure, depth, and lighting for consistent, production‑ready composites.
• Collaborate with VFX Supervisors, CG, and editorial teams; participate in reviews and implement feedback.

What are we looking for?

• We're looking for a skilled 2D & 3D Compositing Artist who can bring together live‑action footage, CG, VFX, motion graphics, and other visual elements to create seamless and visually compelling final shots.
• You'll work across a variety of projects including advertising, digital campaigns, broadcast, OTT, cinema, and branded content. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for detail, understands how different elements come together in a shot, and can move comfortably between creative problem‑solving and technical execution.
• You’ll work closely with VFX artists, CG artists, animators, lighting artists, editors, and creative teams to take shots from individual elements through to polished final composites.

What You’ll Do

2D Compositing

• Create high‑quality composites using multiple layers, passes, and source elements.
• Integrate live‑action footage with CG, VFX, motion graphics, and design elements.
• Perform keying, rotoscoping, masking, paint, cleanup, and image restoration.
• Handle green/blue screen extraction and complex edge work.
• Perform wire, rig, object, reflection, and unwanted‑element removal.
• Match grain, blur, depth of field, motion blur, exposure, and color across different elements.
• Maintain consistency and continuity across shots and sequences.

3D Compositing & CG Integration

• Integrate 3D renders and CG elements into live‑action plates.
• Work with multiple render passes and AOVs to achieve the desired final look.
• Perform relighting, shadow integration, reflection, ambient occlusion, and atmospheric integration where required.
• Work with CG cameras, mattes, holdouts, deep data, and other supporting elements.
• Ensure CG elements match the lighting, perspective, scale, depth, and movement of the live‑action environment.
• Troubleshoot integration issues between CG, FX, and live‑action elements.

Tracking & Roto

• Perform 2D tracking, planar tracking, and basic 3D camera tracking.
• Use tracking data to support compositing, screen replacements, object integration, and stabilization.
• Create accurate roto mattes and masks for complex shots.
• Work with existing matchmove and tracking data and make adjustments when required.

Look Development & Finishing

• Match color, exposure, contrast, saturation, grain, and image characteristics between multiple sources.
• Create realistic depth, atmosphere, reflections, shadows, and environmental interaction.
• Apply compositing techniques that enhance realism and visual storytelling.
• Perform final shot cleanup and ensure the composite is production‑ready.
• Work closely with VFX Supervisors, Creative Directors, CG, FX, Lighting, Matchmove, Roto, and Online teams.
• Participate in reviews and respond effectively to creative and technical feedback.
• Communicate challenges early and identify practical solutions.
• Manage multiple shots and projects while maintaining quality and delivery schedules.
• Follow studio naming conventions, project structures, and production workflows.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of 2D and 3D compositing principles.
• Excellent knowledge of compositing fundamentals including layering, masking, keying, roto, tracking, color matching, and image integration.
• Strong understanding of CG integration and multi-pass compositing.
• Good knowledge of lighting, perspective, depth, color, motion, and photographic principles.
• Experience working with render passes, AOVs, mattes, and CG elements.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex compositing and integration challenges.
• Strong attention to detail and a good eye for realism and image quality.

Software Experience

• Foundry Nuke – Essential
• DaVinci Resolve – Good to have
• Adobe After Effects – Good to have
• Mocha Pro – Good to have
• Autodesk Maya / Cinema 4D / Blender – Basic understanding preferred
• Experience with Arnold, Redshift, V‑Ray, or other rendering workflows is an advantage.

• Familiarity with ACES and modern color‑management workflows.
• Knowledge of deep compositing and deep image workflows.
• Basic understanding of Python or compositing automation.
• Experience with USD and modern CG/VFX pipelines.
• Exposure to AI‑assisted compositing and creative workflows.
