Job summary

EXL Analytics is seeking an experienced Data Architect/Data Engineer with 5+ years in architecture and 10+ years in data engineering to design scalable, fault-tolerant data systems. You will work with Databricks, Delta Lake and Spark, deploy on cloud platforms, and guide client projects through architecture decisions and best practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of architecture, design and implementation in data engineering
• 10+ years of overall data engineering experience, preferably in Insurance domain
• Strong experience with scalable, fault-tolerant data systems
• Deep knowledge of big data compute technologies (Databricks, Snowflake) and cloud deployments
• Experience deploying Databricks on cloud platforms and tuning Spark internals
• Proficient with SQL and Python; familiar with Git, Azure DevOps, Unity Catalog, Terraform
• Project management experience using Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Excellent communication and leadership skills

Role & Responsibilities Overview

Lead and/or assist in designing and developing data systems, tailoring solutions to meet client specific requirementsDesign and implement databricks based solutions with a focus on distributed data processing , data partitioning and optimization for parallelismEngage with client to evaluate their current and future needs, crafting bespoke solution architectures and providing strategic recommendationsDevelop ;scalable and modular data architectures using Delta Lake for ACID-compliant data lakes ;integrating client business processes and technologies (e.g. Implement Lakehouse architecture)Define and enforce coding standards for ETL processes, ensuring maintainability, reusability, and adherence to best practices; Build and orchestrate data pipelines using Databricks Workflows and Auto Loader for real-time ingestion.Architect and implement CI/CD pipelines for databricks notebooks and jobs, ensuring testing , versioning and deployment; ;Disaster recovery strategies for databricks environments, ensuring data resilience and minimal downtime in case of failureInnovate and expand solution offerings to address data challengesAdvise stakeholders on data cloud platform architecture optimization, focusing on performance ;Experienced with Scrum and Agile Methodologies to coordinate global delivery teams, run scrum ceremonies, manage backlog items, and handle escalationsIntegrate data across different systems and platformsStrong verbal and written communication skills to manage client discussions

Candidate Profile

5+ years experience in architecture, design and implementation using databricks with overall 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering (Preferably with Insurance domain)Experience in designing and implementing scalable, fault tolerant systemsDeep understanding of one or more of the big data compute technologies such as databricks, snowflakeDemonstrated experience with the deployment of databricks on cloud platforms , including advanced configurationsIn depth knowledge of spark internals, catalyst optimization, and databricks runtime environment ;Must have experience in implementing solution using DatabricksExperience in Insurance (P&C) is good to have ;Programming Languages – SQL, PythonTechnologies – Databricks, Delta Lake storage, Spark (PySpark, Spark SQL), ;Git, Azure Devops, Unity catalogue, ;Terraform (Good to have)Project Management using Agile, ScrumB.S.
