A Mechanical Design Engineer working in a sewerage treatment plant (STP) is responsible for designing, selecting, and supporting the installation of mechanical equipment used to treat wastewater safely and efficiently.

1. Design Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems used in wastewater treatment processes.

2. Equipment Selection

• Select suitable equipment based on plant capacity and process requirements.
• Evaluate vendor technical specifications.
• Prepare technical data sheets for equipment procurement.
• Review supplier drawings and approve them.

3. Engineering Calculations

• Ensure equipment efficiency and reliability.

4. Drawings and Documentation

Prepare and review:

• Material Submittal preparation
• Mechanical General Arrangement (GA) drawings
• Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
• Equipment layout drawings
• Fabrication drawings

5. Coordination

Coordinate with: Civil engineers, Electrical engineers, Process engineers, Contractors. Ensure mechanical systems integrate properly with plant structures and controls.

6. Site Support

Key Skills Required
