Job summary

Red Chair Recruitment is recruiting a Xero Accountant / Bookkeeper for its Kerry based client. You will handle end-to-end bookkeeping for a portfolio of SME clients using Xero, ensure compliance with Irish VAT and ROS, and support preparation of management accounts.

You will work in a busy practice environment, either in Killarney or Tralee, and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and reporting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
• Strong working knowledge of Xero accounting software.
• Good understanding of Irish VAT and basic tax compliance.
• Accounting technician qualification (ATI), part-qualified accountant (ACCA/CPA/ACA), or equivalent experience.
• Ability to manage end-to-end bookkeeping in a cloud-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update client accounts using Xero accounting software.
• Process sales and purchase invoices, bank transactions, and credit card statements.
• Perform regular bank reconciliations and ledger reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate nominal ledger coding and chart of accounts structures.
• Manage accruals, prepayments, and journal entries as required.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns via ROS, ensuring compliance with Irish Revenue regulations.
• Assist with payroll-related postings where applicable.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts.
• Generate reports including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow summaries.
• Provide basic support and training to clients on Xero usage where required.
